Description TITLE: STAFF ACCOUNTANT CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT REPORTS TO: ACCOUNTING MANAGER H&S Bakery Family of Bakeries Northeast Foods Inc. is one of the largest suppliers of buns, rolls and bread products in the United States, and a Supplier of Choice for numerous restaurants in the country. Based in Baltimore, MD., we are part of a network of 10 bakeries and multiple distribution centers along the East Coast, all committed to one thing: producing the best quality bread products possible. Summary The Staff Accountant provides accurate reconciliation of business accounts. This includes bank statements, credit cards and auditing of quarterly, monthly or yearly accounts. Duties include the financial preparation and analysis of accounts and reporting of financial variances and inaccuracies. C. Additional skills in accounting software packages and excel will also be beneficial. Responsibilities Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, preparing reports. Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Documents financial transactions by entering account information. Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options. Summarizes current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports. Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents. Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information. Secures financial information by completing database backups. Maintains financial security by following internal controls. Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Maintains confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential. Assist with resolutions to accounting issues as they arise and discuss concerns with solutions forward approach. Requirements Education, Skills & Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field Minimum 1-3 years' experience in accounting; public accounting experience preferred. Experience with financial reporting requirements Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas. In-depth understanding of GAAP Strong Analytical Skills Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including VLOOKUP's and Pivot Tables Ability to work independently.
