An Accounting Manager is needed within a Shared Services division of a well-known global oil & gas company based in Dallas. The Accounting Manager will play a key role in overseeing the financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls for various corporate entities. This position requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, exceptional leadership abilities, and experience working in a fast-paced, global environment. The Accounting Manager will ensure accurate financial reporting, timely closing processes, and compliance with regulatory standards while managing a team of accounting professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance, training, and career development.
- Oversee daily accounting activities, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure the team meets performance goals and deadlines, fostering a high-performance culture within the accounting function.
- Oversee preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
- Coordinate the accurate and timely completion of reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, ensuring compliance with internal control procedures.
- Implement and maintain effective accounting processes, controls, and procedures to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
- Ensure compliance with all accounting policies, regulations, and industry standards.
- Recommend and lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline accounting processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Assist with audit periods.
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., Tax, Treasury, Finance) to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across the global shared services division.
- Collaborate with regional finance teams to consolidate financial results and resolve accounting issues.
- Leverage accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to drive financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify system enhancements and automation opportunities to reduce manual processes and improve workflow.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Seven + years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years in a management or supervisory role.
- Experience in a large, global organization and/or within a shared services division is required.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Proficient in accounting software (SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
