The Town of Falmouth seeks an enthusiastic professional to serve as our next Recreation Program Administrator for Sports Programming and lead our sports-related programs. The successful candidate is innovative and seeks ways to engage individuals of all ages, abilities, cultures, backgrounds, identities, and income levels in our diverse community. This position works 40 hours per week and is generally scheduled over four (4) weekdays and one (1) weekend day per week, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position works at the various Recreation facilities where events or programs are being held and occasionally provides evening coverage at the Gus Canty Community Center.

Under the general direction of the Recreation Director, this position develops and implements indoor and outdoor sports-related programs. Duties include but are not limited to managing program logistics such as budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and advertising/promoting; ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are available on schedule; lining fields; requesting participant feedback and evaluating sports-related programs; and maintaining field use reservations for various groups. This position supervises the volunteer coaches for all Recreation youth sports and assists with interviewing, training, and evaluating activity instructors. This position also plays an integral role in planning, executing, and supervising the seasonal staff for the Recreation Division’s 7-week Summer Adventure Program and may receive cross-training in Beach Department functions to provide occasional support to the Beach Superintendent.

This position and the Recreation Program Administrator for Enrichments and Special Events collaborate, support, and assist each other to provide comprehensive programs and special events. This position also collaborates with local organizations and engages with the community to enhance our program offerings and promote our recreation facilities, including seven Town-owned playgrounds, a skate park, and our spacious three-floor Gus Canty Community Center that boasts a gymnasium, activity rooms, meeting rooms, a teen center, and a garage to house part of the department’s fleet of seven sailboats and a motorboat.

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in recreation management, leisure studies, or a related field and a minimum of two years of experience in developing and implementing recreational programs; or any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

Must become certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within eight (8) weeks of hire and must pass a pre-employment CORI background check.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, planning, communication, community engagement, and technology skills. Applicants must have the ability to be creative, work independently, prioritize tasks, and exercise sound judgment.

Expected Starting Range:  Step 1 ($27.43/hour) – Step 4 ($30.86/hour), commensurate with qualifications and experience, with room to advance along the 7-step pay scale.
