Responsibilities
Promotes, creates, develops, and maintains an environment that supports a culture of engagement based on Brookdale’s Engagement Philosophy. Creates and manages the community’s resident programs department, ensuring it uses a person-centered approach starting with positive perceptions of aging while building relationships and connections. Hires, trains, and supervises at least 2 full-time associates in accordance with Company policies. Develops and manages an innovative, continuous culture of engagement reflective of adults. Cultivates person-centered engagement that is meaningful to the individual. Encourages and promotes purposeful opportunities for residents, both internally and externally. Ensures resident experience and welcome protocols are implemented properly. Provides subject matter expertise to the leadership team regarding engagement and quality of life for residents and associates. Supports community operations by ensuring associates provide resident engagement opportunities. Collaborates and oversees Resident Engagement team’s plans and execution of special events at the community. Oversees the development of the monthly programming calendar. Ensures department compliance with the Brookdale Excellence Standards Tool (BEST) and appropriate regulations. Maintains and adheres to department monthly budget and expense control. Manages volunteer program and fitness center where applicable. Represents department in all community meetings. Oversees social media content to ensure alignment with Brookdale’s culture and brand. Facilitates planning, collaboration, and partnership between service lines. This job description represents an overview of the responsibilities for the above-referenced position. Education and Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of direct experience with adults, coordinating, planning, and executing programs is required. Bachelor’s Degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, health care, education, or other related field preferred. Leadership experience is required. Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements:
Must have a valid driver’s license and may be required to obtain a commercial driver’s license based on the needs of the community. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Standing Walking Sitting Use hands and fingers to handle or feel Reach with hands and arms Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Talk or hear Ability to lift: up to 50 pounds Vision Requires interaction with co-workers, residents, or vendors Occasional weekend, evening or night work if needed On-Call on an as-needed basis Possible exposure to communicable diseases and infections Possible exposure to various drugs, chemical, infectious, or biological hazards Management/Decision Making:
Uses strong analytic skills and an in-depth understanding of resident programming and engagement to make varied decisions within the department. Knowledge and Skills:
