Job Description Summary
DEFINITION
Under general direction of Supervisor, Technology Services, install, configure, troubleshoot and repair district computer systems, audiovisual, VoIP, and unified communications equipment, their software applications and operating systems for use in administrative and instructional environments. Provide technical support and help functions that relate to hardware, software, peripherals, data communications, and connectivity. Utilize work orders and remote techniques in support of all college sites. In coordination with network staff, the incumbent specifies, configures, automates, provisions, troubleshoots and updates related: applications, group policies, scripts, control systems, profiles, hardware, and software licensing/packaging in support of both administrative and instructional environments of Cuesta College.

Incumbents in this position support student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness by providing technology and communications resources that are appropriate and adequate to support the institution's management and operational functions, academic programs, teaching and learning, and support services. Incumbents are distinguished from other technical positions by the requirement that the incumbent recommends, installs, configures and repairs technology equipment of Cuesta College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Installation, support, and maintenance of college hardware, software, audiovisual, VoIP, and unified communications; Install, program, maintain, and deploy videoconferencing and audiovisual systems, including low voltage cabling; Diagnose and repair or facilitate repairs of non-functioning computing, audiovisual, VoIP, and unified communications equipment; Provide in-classroom repairs and instructional emergency service for supported equipment; Design, implement, and keep system standards up to date for various configurations throughout the district; Troubleshoot connectivity issues and take appropriate steps to repair and/or facilitate appropriate escalation of support where/when necessary; Receive, screen and follow through on user requests with established guidelines and priorities; Research, evaluate and recommend hardware, software and operating systems in support of campus standards; Assist users in selection of equipment that best meets their needs in keeping with campus standards; Maintain accurate equipment and parts inventory; Maintain department standards and follow established procedures; Attend trainings, meetings and workshops where/when identified; Utilize, design and document automation of processes for provisioning, deployment, updating and maintaining security of networked computers, peripherals, audiovisual, mobile devices, VoIP equipment, and unified communications equipment; Monitor and review compliance with software license agreements; Research, specify, configure, utilize and maintain related client/server asset management/monitoring and remote-control systems; In coordination with network and other IT staff, specify, configure, automate, provisions, troubleshoot, and update resources critical to the functioning services provided by the Information Technology department; and Perform other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Required
Associate's degree and two years of work experience or a combination of education and experience which would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed. Preferred
Associate's degree and two years of work experience in computer and networking technology or related field. Knowledge of:
Tools, materials and equipment used in repair and maintenance of computer equipment; Computer hardware components and related peripherals; Microsoft, Apple, and Google operating systems and applications; Audiovisual and control systems commonly used in a variety of settings (classroom, conference room, theater, digital signage, etc.); Wiring schematics for electronic systems; blueprints when used for technology related systems; VoIP and unified communications related hardware and software: Basic network troubleshooting and diagnostic utilities, such as ip/ifconfig, ping, gpresult and packet sniffing; Basic understanding of common network protocols such as TCP/IP, PXE, TFTP, HTTP(S), FTP, SIP, IMAP, SMTP and SSH; Wireless configuration, low voltage cabling and patching in network ports; Endpoint security software including anti-malware and anti-virus; Processes for managing, provisioning, deployment, and inventory management of computers, software and mobile devices, utilizing such platforms as Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft SCCM, Jamf Pro, Apple Configurator, and Google Admin Console; Install, configure, and troubleshoot networked computer workstations, systems and programs, and VoIP endpoints used by the district in both instruction and administrative areas; Current technologies, personal computer, and associated office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and/or database software; Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; and District policies and procedures. Employees who work half-time or more are entitled to receive fringe benefits. The fringe allocation is money from the District to help cover the cost of insurance. Employees working half-time or more are eligible to participate in the District's medical, dental and vision insurance.
Employees with a work assignment of 50% to 74% of full time will receive one-half of the above stated fringe allocation.
If your insurance rate exceeds your fringe allocation, the balance will be deducted from your monthly payroll check. If the insurance plans selected cost less than the fringe allocation, any excess amount will be returned to the District.
