Job Title: Brake Press Operator (2nd Shift)
Location: Mills, WY
Shift: 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM – 3:00 AM (Monday - Thursday), 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Friday & Saturday)
Pay: $33.10/hr + $0.90 Shift Differential


Summary:
The Brake Press Operator will support the steel prep department by operating brake presses to bend steel according to technical specifications, operating plasma machines to cut and prepare steel, and transferring steel to the appropriate departments. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to handle heavy equipment to ensure production specifications are met while maintaining a focus on safety.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate brake presses, plasma cutters, and other equipment in alignment with safety and quality standards.
  • Review and assess steel dimensions and grades before beginning operations.
  • Cut sheet metal using plasma torch, multihead torch, hand torch, secator, saw, and shear based on provided prints and instructions.
  • Bevel parts using nibbler, flame bevel, and plasma bevel.
  • Adjust Pro Nest cutting program to operate plasma torches efficiently.
  • Load and unload steel plates onto and from the plasma machine using a crane, marking and stacking them per print specifications.
  • Accurately set and adjust power press brakes to specifications, ensuring proper bend angles and dimensions.
  • Monitor the operation of the torches, taking corrective actions when necessary to maintain quality standards.
  • Assist in the training of new employees on operating power press brakes and plasma cutters.
  • Safely operate cranes and hoists to move materials and components across workstations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, including using the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Follow all quality standards set by the company and customers.
  • Take corrective actions as needed to ensure the safety of the team and the quality of work.
  • Perform other duties as needed and assist in maintaining equipment and tools.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certification preferred.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience or a combination of education and on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of machine operations including brake presses, plasma cutters, and cranes.
  • Ability to read blueprints, use measuring tools, and adjust machinery settings according to specifications.
  • Strong mathematical ability, including basic geometry and algebra.
  • Ability to operate and interpret basic software for machine operations (e.g., ESOP Cutting Program).
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and bending.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift and move materials, with occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach frequently.
  • Requires constant use of hands and vision for operating tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work in noisy environments, wearing ear protection at all times.

Work Environment:

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Work performed in a noisy, industrial environment.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures and hazardous materials.


Pay Details: $34.00 per hour
