Duty Days: 187 Days
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade: A01
Qualifications:
Ability to follow established procedures and take directions from supervisor
Possess limited knowledge of custodial procedures
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies
Capable of using all types of Operation's equipment with or without supervision
Possess limited knowledge of proper care of school facilities and equipment
Physically able to lift, transport, position 50 pounds
Ability to work collaboratively with others
Ability to work various locations within school district
Ability to work weekday evening shift (7pm-11pm or 8pm-12am)
Ability to maintain emotional stability
Primary Purpose:
Maintain physical facilities in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety so that full educational use of the buildings can be accomplished at all times to provide students and employees an attractive, comfortable, efficient place in which to learn, work, play and develop.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment Used:
Buffer, automatic floor scrubber, carpet extractor, wet and dry vacuum, burnisher, electric drill, hand tools, mop, dust-mop, chair dolly, two-way communication device, computer, washer and dryer.
Working Conditions:
Frequent walking, standing, heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals, materials and bodily fluids. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. Frequently positions self to gain access to tight spaces and low areas.

- Clean and sanitize restrooms, fixtures, showers, etc.
- Fill dispensers with towels, soap, and toilet tissue.
- Sweep, mop, or vacuum floors, remove scuff marks from floors in rooms and halls.
- Mop, wax, and buff floors as needed including restrooms, classrooms, common areas, etc.
- Remove dust from desks, counters, table tops, etc.
- Clean windows and mirrors.
- Clean chalkboards/whiteboards.
- Remove wall spots and stains.
- Remove trash, paper and garbage from building to designated area.
- Maintain grounds including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and play areas.
- Set up chairs and tables daily in the cafeteria and as needed for events.
- Replace light bulbs as required.
- Perform limited minor maintenance.
- Know location and how to use all fire extinguishers.
- Report to Head Custodian or Assistant Head Custodian any maintenance problems.
- Report to Head Custodian or Assistant Head Custodian any unauthorized people in building.
- Follow established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facility, including turning off lights.
- Assume additional duties as required.
