The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of the City's warehouse facilities. This includes managing inventory, procurement, logistics, and ensuring the timely delivery of supplies to support the operations of the City's various park facilities.

This position is classified as a non-exempt, full-time position with a 40-hour work-week.

Essential Functions:

  1. Oversees the activities of the warehouse operation including maintenance, space utilization and storage.
  2. Analyzes, evaluates and develops operational processes and policies for improved efficiencies and operational effectiveness.
  3. Serves as a liaison between the warehouse and other departments, ensuring effective communication and customer satisfaction.
  4. Researches and prepares recommendations and reports to improve customer service operations and systems.
  5. Responsible for the effective supervision and administration of the warehouse staff including performance management, employee prioritizing and assigning work, and related activities.
  6. Coordinates the warehouse operations and workflow.
  7. Develops standard operating procedures for shipping, receiving, and issuing supplies and parts, including item pick-up and delivery and resolves discrepancies with inventory and supplies.
  8. Oversees accurate inventory control through the computerized inventory control system.
  9. Assists with and determines reorder points, appropriate supply levels, and items to be eliminated; forecasts future needs and makes appropriate purchase recommendations.
  10. Operates standard warehouse equipment such as a forklift, front-end loader, order picker or related equipment.
  11. Researches and makes recommendations for equipment purchases or lease arrangements.
  12. Assists with the coordination, pick-up, storage and disposal of obsolete, surplus, and recycled materials.
  13. Serves as departmental Logistics Manager during declared emergencies.
  14. Evaluates environmental impact of material and disposal of hazardous waste; oversees inventory control, auditing, and restocking procedures.
  15. Manages the procurement process of the warehouse, including supplier evaluation, product sourcing, and purchasing.
  16. Provides administrative support, including preparing reports and processing purchase orders.
  17. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with vendors, staff, and the public.

Additional Duties:

  1. Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING

  1. A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. Must possess two (2) years of Warehouse experience.
  3. Must possess one (1) year of experience as a supervisor of warehouse operations.
  4. Must obtain Forklift Certification within 6 months of hire.
  5. Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Must be fluent in the English language. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
  2. Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  3. Ability to oversee the work of a team engaged in providing specific services, completing specific projects, or assisting other units.
  4. Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
  5. Ability to use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
  6. Ability to use computer for data entry and word processing.
  7. Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.
  8. Ability to consistently perform detailed work.
  9. Ability to work under tight deadlines and adjust to last minute programming changes.
  10. Ability to express oneself clearly, orally and in writing, and strong interpersonal skills.
  11. Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with superiors, peers, and outside vendors.
  12. Ability to make recommendations that impact the budget.
  13. Knowledge of large-scale warehouse management and maintenance techniques to include computerized stock and inventory.
  14. Knowledge of safe, effective and efficient handling and storage of parts, components, and supplies.
  15. Knowledge of general procurement laws, practices and procedures to include regulations and ordinances for local government.
  16. Knowledge of sources, suppliers, and substitutions for specialized materials and the proper sale or disposal of equipment utilized in the warehouse.
  17. Demonstrate effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  18. Must be a non-smoker.
  19. The minimum requirements may be waived by the City Manager.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to finger, grasp, handle, kneel, lift, pull, push, reach, receive information through oral communication; make rational decisions; express ideas through speaking accurately/loudly/quickly; make repetitive motions with the hands; stand for sustained periods of time; stoop by bending the body downwards; shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level; use visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal, determining the accuracy of work, operate heavy equipment, perform inspections; and walk from one work site to another.
  2. Ability to perceive sound at normal speaking levels; express ideas through speaking accurately/loudly/quickly; use visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal or determining the accuracy of work; and walk from one work site to another.
  3. Ability to hear, make rational decisions and perform activities such as transcribing, viewing a computer terminal and/or extensive reading.
  4. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  5. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
  6. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  7. Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  8. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  9. Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

  11. Picking, holding, or otherwise working, primarily with the whole hand.

ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES

  1. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, weather, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, machinery, vibrations, traffic hazards, or bright/dim lights.
