Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Hardware Systems Engineer to join the DPC/ZPE Systems in Fremont, CA. We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Hardware Engineer to design, develop, and test hardware systems and components for our cutting-edge network management products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, operations, as well as contract manufacturers, to ensure that our hardware solutions meet stringent quality, performance, and reliability standards.
About Us: ZPE Systems develops and manufactures secure remote in-band and out-of-band management solutions for enterprises to access, control, manage, and automate critical IT infrastructure from the data center to the edge. Companies that maintain or operate many data centers, campuses, and branch locations, such as those in healthcare, supply chain, education, government, and finance, trust ZPE’s Intel-based serial consoles, services routers, and cloud management software to eliminate human error, close security gaps, and resolve interoperability issues.
What Will You Do?
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development:
- Develop hardware designs for network management solutions, including routers, serial consoles, and edge network components.
- Assist with circuit design, PCB layout, and component selection for high-performance, reliable, and energy-efficient hardware.
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers and vendors to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
- Coordinate with firmware and software teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware components.
- Prototyping and Testing:
- Build and test hardware prototypes, refining designs based on test results.
- Conduct measurements and analyses to verify design integrity and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with contract manufacturers to review prototype and production testing results.
- Manufacturing and Production Support:
- Work closely with contract manufacturers to resolve technical issues during production, ensuring products meet quality and performance expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to optimize cost, performance, and reliability of products.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Create detailed documentation, including production documents, specifications, test reports, and work instructions, and provide cross-departmental training based on the documentation.
- Work closely with certification labs to attain certifications and regulatory compliance for ZPE products.
- Enable continuous effort to ensure products stay up to date on current certifications and compliances.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in hardware design and development, preferably in the networking or telecommunications industry.
- Proven experience with circuit design, PCB layout tools, and debugging.
- Strong knowledge of digital and analog circuits, power management, and high-speed signal design.
- Hands-on experience with using hardware diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and soldering tools.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., SMT, injection molding, machining, assembly, etc.).
- Experience working with contract manufacturers or ODMs for hardware development and production.
- Familiarity with product testing and validation processes, including functional and reliability testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with IoT devices, edge computing, or data center hardware.
- The ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese is desirable.
Salary Range: $145,000-155,000
