Job Overview

As an Electronics Hardware Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and refining designs for electronic hardware enclosure packaging for devices, including sensors and control hardware used in hazardous underground mining environments.

Key Job Responsibilities

1. Create and refine designs for electronic hardware enclosure packaging.
2. Choose appropriate materials for packaging based on electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties.
3. Engage with a cross-disciplinary team to formulate and design innovative products.
4. Support design reviews with internal teams and suppliers.
5. Conduct tests to evaluate performance of electronic enclosure packaging designs.
6. Work with the design team to specify mounting strategies and thermal interfaces.
7. Perform thermal analysis of electronics and design enclosures with proper thermal management.
8. Perform modal and vibration analyses of electronic assemblies.
9. Ensure enclosures comply with industry standards and regulations.
10. Design test fixtures in addition to electronics packaging.
11. Support vibration, shock, and thermal tests of products designed.
12. Develop CAD designs, part drawings, and assembly drawings.
13. Up to 5% of travel is possible.

Qualifications/Requirements

1. BS in Mechanical or related degree with 10 years of industry experience in designing ruggedized electronics enclosure packaging.
2. Experience in designing electro-mechanical assemblies that comply with thermal, EMI/EMC, shock, and vibration specifications.
3. Experience with modeling PCBA with enclosures.
4. Experience with 3D CAD tools such as Autodesk Inventor.
5. Experience in building prototype enclosures and maintaining 3D printers.
6. Experience designing for CNC machining and sheet metal production.
