Job Description Summary
As a Staff Electronic Hardware Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of high reliability ignition products, solutions, and systems. This role includes activities linked to the technical improvement of existing products and components, requiring a mastery of theoretical electrical engineering knowledge and a well-developed foundation of functional skills and knowledge of relevant technologies.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating electronic parts, components, and integrated circuitry for engine ignition systems.
- Determine design approaches and parameters; analyze equipment to establish validation approach, conduct experimental tests & evaluate results. Common skill sets include Analog, Digital, Mixed Signal, Power Conversion, Magnetics design, and pulse power circuitry.
- Develop new solutions with minimal guidance, and/or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organization.
- Serve as best practice/quality resource. Have awareness of the latest technical developments in own area. Contribute towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Work together with business leadership at various levels.
- Specify needs, communicate about project approach, and present outcomes of research done.
- Deliver products as part of a cross-functional multidisciplinary team.
- Lead analytical and design activities using proven technologies and vested approaches and methods.
- Develop specialized knowledge in their discipline.
- Have in-depth knowledge of best practices and working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
- Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Take new perspectives on existing solutions. Use technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explain difficult or sensitive information; work to build consensus. Develop persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within the field.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 9 years of experience in engineering).
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
- This role requires the use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
