Hardware Development Engineer, Annapurna Labs
In this role, you will be responsible for system design, validation, and integration of hardware in the AWS fleet through its entire life cycle.
Key Job Responsibilities
We are looking for a Hardware Design Engineer with skills in both hardware and software. You will work cross-functionally with AWS monitoring teams, members of the Hardware Design team, and additional teams across AWS to improve the quality and reliability of products operating in the fleet.
About the Team
As a member of the Machine Learning Acceleration team, you’ll be responsible for the design and optimization of hardware in our data centers. You’ll provide leadership in the application of new technologies to large-scale server deployments in a continuous effort to deliver a world-class customer experience. This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position, and you’ll work with thought leaders in multiple technology areas. You’ll have high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your product's performance, quality, and cost.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BS or MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (EE / CE) and minimum of 5 years of experience with high-speed design and system validation.
- Experience with schematic, PCB design, and layout tools; drive ODM HW development and testing and be part of the production flow definition team.
- Strong knowledge in electrical engineering fundamentals, power & signal integrity, and analog/digital circuits; able to drive component selection and validation of electrical and mechanical components, cables.
- Work with ODMs, IP silicon vendors, memory vendors, and internal design teams on cross-boundary triaging, debugging, and resolving issues across the organization.
- Hands-on lab equipment skills for electrical validation and characterization.
- Scripting skills to automate tests, logs parsing, and data collection.
- Strong technical communication skills (verbal and written) to interface with cross-functional technical leads within and/or outside of the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with HW designs, validation, and tests, and signal integrity of high-speed interfaces PCIe Gen5/6, 25/50/100Gbps networking solutions.
- Knowledge of the product development cycle from concept to mass production.
- Define and manage ODM production testing.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with SW teams to define and implement diagnostics for hardware validation at component, interface, and system levels.
- CPU architecture experience.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
- The ability to work independently and drive tasks from start to completion.
