We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of complex digital hardware used in high-performance communication products that are critical to the defense of our nation, such as sophisticated software-defined radios and data links designed for use in various ground, airborne, and space applications. This position is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

What YOU Will Do:
- Collaborate with a multi-discipline team of Engineers to develop proven hardware designs that meet system performance and operational specifications.
- Lead and perform circuit card design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation, signal integrity analysis, creation of board stackup and routing instructions, coordination and review of printed wiring board layout, creation of test plans, root cause analysis, and integration. Designs will include the use of FPGA, processors, and DDR memory components, and industry interfaces, such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART.
- Prepare and present project and/or technical information to technical staff, program leadership, management and customers. This includes producing technical documentation, including specifications, hardware design documents, and test plans.
- Test and troubleshoot electronic circuitry. Includes support lab of design verification testing for circuit card assemblies.
- Perform trade studies as needed and select components necessary to implement the requirements. Includes supporting system architecture discussions where needed.
- Mentor others in personal technical growth and may lead small teams to success with schedule, budget, and technical execution.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience acting as a hardware technical lead on circuit card developments (including hardware designs with processors, FPGAs, memory, and industry standard interfaces).
- Experience with all aspects of circuit card design from concept through delivery to higher level assemblies as evidenced by successful design completion.
- Experience with schematic capture of electrical circuit designs, and generating Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines and overseeing the routing and layout.
- Hands-on experience testing circuit card assemblies and performing design verification activities.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Ability to prepare bids and proposals.
- Project management experience using Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
- Experience with Agile for Hardware Development, including planning, tracking, and managing hardware development projects in JIRA is a plus.
- Familiar with latest technology trends in the area of high-speed digital design, as well as microprocessor, memory, FPGA and interface protocols.
- Experience with signal integrity and timing analyses for creation of robust circuit card designs.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD.
