Human Resources Director
Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000
Full Job Description
Summary: The Human Resources Director oversees and administers branch human resource programs including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, employee relations and conflict resolution, performance and talent management, retention programs, mandatory trainings, and professional development programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Business Management, and five years related progressive human resources experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
Demonstrate an understanding of federal laws and regulations applying to Payroll and HR functions.
Strong interpersonal/human relations skills and ability to deal with a wide range of relationships and situations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in payroll software (Paycom preferred) and in Microsoft Office.
Highly initiative-taking and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines.
Collaborator motivated to achieve personal, team and organization goals. Strong organizational skills.
Able to present a professional and positive demeanor with internal and external customers/clients and work cooperatively.
Able to maintain confidentiality of branch and employee information.
Exceptional reliability.
Meticulous with excellent follow up skills.
Able to successfully pass a credit, criminal, driving, and employment reference background check.
Certified Praesidium Guardian (Training will be provided, if necessary).
Essential Functions
Collaborate with leadership to understand organizational goals and strategies related to workplace culture, staffing, recruiting and retention.
Administer all onboarding for volunteers and employees. This includes but is not limited to new hire paperwork, initial training, orientations, and exit surveys.
Initiate and follow up on criminal background checks, drug testing, social security trace, sex offender check, references, and child abuse check for contract labor, volunteers, and staff.
Maintain and update Job Descriptions and advertise positions where needed.
Maintain proper record retention system for current and historical files.
Ensure Personnel Policy is up to date.
Oversee the Y's Child Abuse Prevention Policies.
Serve as a trusted source of counsel on requests for HR support to meet organizational goals.
Offer recommendations for new or updated personnel policies.
Work as a liaison between employees and management, communicating issues and opportunities to keep morale strong.
Monitor and advise management regarding performance improvement and disciplinary processes.
Supervise the branch's payroll administration function.
Oversee annual calendar to manage human resources-related materials and compliance reports.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Maintain knowledge of trends and best practices and regulatory changes related to HR.
Compose and prepare correspondence that is sometimes confidential.
Keep supervisor informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of company goals or matters not being addressed adequately at the line management level.
Develop and implement departmental budget.
Monitor and assist scheduling First Aid/ CPR Trainings and other trainings, as necessary.
Ensure mandatory training has been scheduled and attended.
Process health Insurance paperwork.
Administer, track, and process staff eligibility and deductions for the Y Retirement Fund.
Assist at Kishwaukee YMCA events.
Other duties as assigned.
