We are hiring a Human Resources Generalist, who will be responsible for providing a wide range of day-to-day HR support including administering employee benefits and leaves while also working to drive New Charter global People initiatives. The HR Generalist will offer essential support for both the New Charter Technologies Corporate staff as well as the HRBP organization, while serving as the primary internal contact for benefits, 401(k), and leaves of absence (LOA).
Primary Responsibilities
- Benefits Administration
- Execute on and evolve the checklist for ongoing benefits administration and bill reconciliation.
- Work with the finance and partner company teams to answer questions and address issues specific to benefit bills.
- Take the lead at Open Enrollment, building out the benefits administration portal, testing to ensure the system works effectively, preparing open enrollment material, and acting as an employee support regarding plan changes.
- Build and execute on a plan for overall benefits communication.
- Become the benefits expert at New Charter, acting as an escalation point for HRBPs and supporting benefit needs for New Charter and a certain subset of partner companies.
- Review and approve benefit status changes based on plan provisions and government requirements (Life Events, QMCSO’s, QDRO’s, etc.).
- Take the lead on annual benefit plan compliance processes such as 401k compliance testing, plan 5500’s, San Francisco HSCO program, ACA reporting, and other applicable annual processes.
- Assist with employee mailings, vendor billings, coordinating data collection, etc. for the benefits program.
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes, including ensuring data integrity procedures are in place.
- Engage with the employee wellness committee, ensuring that the committee’s work aligns with the overall strategic direction of the plan.
- General HR
- Monitor and communicate leave of absence approvals and rejections for New Charter employees.
- Coordinate benefits for employees on LOA, working with STD insurance, our RTO program, and any applicable state programs to make employees as whole as possible.
- Manage New Charter’s labor law poster program.
- Act as a first line of support for New Charter corporate team member HR issues.
- Manage the background screening program for all New Charter businesses, including working with background screening provider to build background screening packages that include separate Operating Company branding and requirements.
- Manage and evolve the onboarding and offboarding process for New Charter employees.
- Provide back-up support for compliance and onboarding to HRBPs or those OpCos without an assigned HRBP.
- Upload documents for hiring, benefits, onboarding, etc in the UKG Recruiting, Onboarding, and People Assist portal(s) annually, or as updates are made.
- Assist with I-9 compliance deadlines, audits and workflow buildouts, managing the process for New Charter.
- Assist with employee compensation reports and data migration projects between UKG to Payfactors tool(s), or in support of Compensation Strategy Guides.
- Audit employee elections in vendor systems to ensure employee deduction accuracy in UKG.
Skills & Experience
- 3 years related Human Resources and Benefits experience, in a multi-state environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including intermediate Excel knowledge (Lookup formulas, intermediate formulas, Pivot Tables, Charts etc.).
- Prior experience with HRIS and Benefit Information Systems (UKG Ready, Empower, etc.) strongly preferred.
- General knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, Medicare, State Disability and Family Leave regulations, etc.
- Effective writing and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field with an emphasis in business or finance a nice to have.
- Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to complete complex projects that take place over long periods of time.
- Superb communication skills, including effective facilitation, listening, and writing.
- Ability to express thoughts in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
