Summary
The Director of HR Technology is responsible for overseeing and managing the technological infrastructure and systems that support the Human Resources (HR) function within Buckle. This position will ensure that the HR Team is equipped with the right technology solutions to streamline HR processes, support Teammate learning and development, improve efficiency, enhance Teammate experience, and support strategic HR initiatives. The Director of HR Technology will have primary responsibility for maintaining the roadmap of future technology enhancements and implementations to align with and enable Buckle’s overall HR strategy.

- Develop a technology strategy aligned with HR and Buckle business objectives, driving efficiency and process automation for measurable outcomes.
- Partner with key leaders and Teammates to identify HR technology needs and communication methods, determine current content, and identify vendors to deliver and enhance HR’s service delivery model.
- Serve as a technology advocate and successfully leverage and champion technology as a key platform for learning enhancement and delivery at Buckle.
- Ensure Teammates are equipped with modern technology solutions to deliver optimal solutions for users.
- Collaborate with IT to steer the direction of technology projects, including estimating costs, managing budgets, defining scope, and formulating delivery strategies, while setting and tracking key milestones and timelines.
- Partner with supervisors and key leaders to ensure that longer-term talent development strategies and skills align with HR technology investment and enhancement.
System Implementation and Integration
- Oversee the selection, implementation and integration of HR software and systems across all Buckle HR-related processes that support key HR activities such as talent management, learning, payroll, onboarding, succession planning, communication, payroll and Teammate self-service portals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to creatively address challenges, prioritize tasks effectively, and eliminate obstacles to ensure the successful launch of new products or features that satisfy user requirements.
- Supervise other Teammates with HR software and system responsibilities, focusing on ensuring skill development and growth as organizational systems and needs grow and change.
Process Optimization and Change Management
- Develop methodology to evaluate and measure progress, milestones, and success of HR technology-related activities and programs and communicate such results via reports and dashboards to key stakeholders.
- Leverage user insights to shape technical solutions. Work proactively with Company leaders to anticipate needs and solutions to ensure continued progress and maturity of HR systems to align with Company processes.
- Serve as a champion for HR system implementation, adoption, and use as change agent and advocate for HR technology solutions.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to craft and disseminate communications, manage change, devise training strategies, and roll out new solutions or updates to platforms.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Continually assess capability gaps and emerging needs to influence product enhancements and roadmaps for HR systems and tools.
- Seek and leverage stakeholder feedback to drive roadmap of continuous enhancements and improvements to deliver a superior user experience. Oversee the support process, analyzing tickets and feedback to improve system health and identify enhancement opportunities through automation and other improvements.
General
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and security standards and protect sensitive employee information.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors and partners, including contract negotiations.
- Lead, mentor, develop, and guide direct reports, fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Support a strong performance management culture centered on professional growth and enhancement.
- Execute role efficiently and effectively, utilizing fiscal responsibility and complying with all policies and procedures.
- Fulfill mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive team spirit.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises other Teammates with day-to-day HR technology responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training teammates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining teammates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field required.
- At least seven years of progressive experience in human resources, human resources technology or a related HR function.
- Experience and/or exposure to designing and implementing successful HR, talent development and learning programs.
- Experience within a national retail company preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
