The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in the financial health of our organization by analyzing records and reports and managing the company's accounting operations. This includes processing and reconciling invoices, expense reimbursements, credit card transactions, and bank transactions, as well as preparing comprehensive financial statements and reports. The Senior Accountant will also mentor the Bookkeeper, fostering professional growth within the team. The ideal candidate is driven, eager to learn, and committed to supporting the company's successful growth. This position requires collaboration with a cross-functional team and is best suited for someone with experience in medium to large-sized companies.

Description

20 hours per week

Job activities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain detailed financial records. This includes documenting financial transactions through journal entries and account reviews to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare monthly closing entries. Manage reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts while overseeing monthly reconciliation schedules for fixed assets and accrued liabilities.
• Process payroll journal entries. This involves ensuring payroll accuracy and submitting payments to the 401(k) plans following payroll submissions.
• Assist in financial reporting. Help prepare monthly financial reports and analyze company expenditures to provide insights into financial performance.
• Mentor the Bookkeeper. Provide guidance and technical support to assist with accurate bookkeeping.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills, experience, and competencies:

• Extensive accounting experience. A minimum of 7 years in accounting with demonstrated experience in leading regular closes.
• Strong technical proficiency. Experience with QuickBooks Online and advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets to effectively analyze and report financial data.
• Knowledge of GAAP. Understanding Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Excellent communication skills. Strong verbal and written abilities to effectively convey financial information to various stakeholders.

The strongest candidates will also demonstrate the following skills, experience, and competencies:

• CPA certification. Preference for candidates with a CPA, indicating a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Private industry experience. Background in private companies, particularly in healthcare, is advantageous.
• Team collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
