Essential Job Duties:
- Evaluate workplace environments and design ergonomic solutions to improve worker safety and productivity.
- Conduct and maintain ergonomic assessments and risk evaluations to identify potential hazards for a variety of settings such as office, in person, virtual, laboratory, distribution, manufacturing, healthcare, and transportation.
- Develop and implement ergonomic programs and training sessions for employees.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and designers to ensure ergonomic considerations are integrated into workplace designs.
- Analyze work tasks and recommend modifications to reduce physical strain and prevent injuries.
- Monitor compliance with ergonomic standards and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide expert advice on ergonomic equipment and furniture selection.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to ergonomic assessments and interventions.
- Conduct research and stay updated on the latest ergonomic trends and best practices.
- Participate in incident investigations to identify ergonomic factors contributing to workplace injuries.
- Advise on the design of tools, workstations, and equipment to align with ergonomic principles.
- Provide expertise and assist in ergonomic improvement projects and initiatives within the organization.
- Review, update, and maintain current ergonomic resources such as training, guidelines, and equipment lists.
- Design any additional resources as requested or as an outcome of any ergonomic projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or equivalent certification
Education, Skills, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Ergonomics, Human Factors, Occupational Health, or a related field.
- Experience in conducting detailed workplace ergonomic assessments, risk evaluations, and interventions.
- Proficiency in ergonomic assessment tools and software.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to ergonomics.
- Understanding of ergonomic principles, standards, and best practices.
- Ability to develop and deliver training programs and supporting educational materials on ergonomic practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Excellent communication (written/verbal) and presentation abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
Physical Demands:
- Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling, walking, and standing for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate various equipment reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, and kneeling or crouching.
