Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center + Rosemary Anderson High School (POIC + RAHS) is a minority-led nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing high-quality services in education, mentoring, family outreach, employment training, and placement.

Established in 1968, POIC + RAHS has been a beacon for communities of color for over 50 years. Today, POIC + RAHS provides education and direct services to over 700 students and work trainees annually, 80% of whom are Black or Latinx.

Job Summary:
As the African American/Black Student Success Program Coordinator, you will manage a caseload of 90 African American/Black youth at Rosemary Anderson High School (RAHS). You will work with students to connect them with POIC + RAHS programs including after-school activities, tutoring, employment and training services, parenting education services, and mentoring, as well as juvenile justice/intervention services.

    Responsibilities

    • Client Engagement: meet with individual students monthly, conduct quarterly individual success plan updates, and monitor student enrollment, attendance, and credit attainment
    • Case Management: support a caseload of approximately 90 students
    • Data Management: adhere to documentation requirements, including accurate data entry into student files, ISP-s, weekly/monthly reports, and case notes; monitor grant requirements
    • Team Collaboration: weigh in on strategic plans for the Department that relate to the future of youth and parent/family involvement programming and community engagement, and serve as liaison between assigned families and the Department

    Qualifications

    Personal Requirements:

    • Ability to assess risk factors, protective factors, personal and evaluation needs to develop appropriate individual interventions or case plans
    • Ability to build effective, trusting relationships with young people and parents
    • Ability to identify and appropriately engage adolescents with mental health, drug and alcohol issues
    • Knowledge of community resources and referral/follow-up processes
    • Strong writing skills
    • Strong cultural competency
    • Must have a valid driver's license, access to a personal vehicle, and the ability to meet our insurability requirements

    Experience/Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
    • Three years case management experience
    • Experience providing outreach, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution skills with youth and families
    • Experience conducting home visits
