Job Description

Directs and coordinates activities of the production department ‐ plan, organize and control production to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to standard.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure plant meets profitable production goals and quality goals, while remaining within budget limitations.
  2. Act as interface between plant management and production staff.
  3. Lead continuous improvement programs and manufacturing process improvements by applying appropriate processes and problem solving tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc.
  4. Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization – consult with Engineering and Maintenance personnel relative to modification of machines.
  5. Keep abreast of new technology that can be used in the production process.
  6. Develop production schedules and duty assignments, making strategic decisions as necessary to alter programs when time or budget limitations are reached.
  7. Organize and cross‐train worker teams for maximum production flexibility.
  8. Provide input in establishing production and quality control standards.
  9. Lead the coordination and execution of production trials and process improvement projects through team project management.
  10. Implement and use KPIs to assess, analyze and track manufacturing process as it relates to goals and objectives.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, chemical or other related degree preferred or 5+ years progressive experience in a key leadership/management role at a manufacturing facility with technical aptitude and analytical skills.
  2. Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  3. Written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  5. Critical thinking and problem‐solving skills.
  6. Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance.
