JOB TITLE: Production Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Production

FLSA: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Production Manager

HOURLY RANGE: $26-$33

Objective: Responsible for the safe, efficient manufacturing and converting production by your team. Meet business objectives. Manage all activities of your assigned crew.

Essential Functions

  1. Supervise, coordinate and manage all aspects of production and converting operations on assigned shift. Partner with the Production Planner and other Managers to efficiently schedule and produce manufacturing and converting projects.
  2. Partner with the Plant Manager and Production Planner and other departments to utilize raw materials for maximum efficiency, minimum waste and minimum expense.
  3. Maintain a safe working environment for your shift. Conduct daily pre-shift safety meetings. Assist with incident investigations and ensure corrective action is taken.
  4. Ensure compliance with all safety and hazardous materials handling procedures. Ensure work areas are constantly maintained in a hazard-free, safe manner.
  5. Supervise all production and converting personnel on assigned shift, including assigning duties, scheduling, setting expectations, providing feedback and holding employees accountable.
  6. Set clear performance, safety, attendance and behavior expectations and hold employees accountable through constant feedback.
  7. Discipline employees when appropriate, following company policy and practice.
  8. Perform frequent inspections to ensure Company standards, rules and laws are being followed regarding: safety, quality, productivity, efficiency.
  9. Adhere to and ensure compliance with all policies, rules, regulations and laws, including but not limited to: wage and hour, employment, harassment, discrimination and retaliation, workplace safety, health and environmental.
  10. Ensure ERP is properly used throughout your shift: Confirm all Jobs are assigned on the system; confirm LOTS and make corrections as necessary; Verify Production per job; Ensure return takedowns are accurately entered in the system; ensure raw material is added to jobs if necessary.
  11. Enter everyone in and out of the ERP system at the beginning and end of each day.
  12. Before jobs are closed and throughout the day, verify that jobs, labor, material used are all entered accurately in the ERP.
  13. Troubleshoot Factory track.
  14. Partner with Production Planner and Shipping and Receiving to schedule production/converting, and to coordinate incoming and outgoing materials.
  15. Conduct Cycle counts and other inventory activities.
  16. Assist in the recruitment, onboarding and training of employees assigned to your team.
  17. Accurately complete and maintain records and documents, including but not limited to: daily shift report, time & attendance, production reports from Syteline.
  18. Treat all employees with respect in a fair and consistent manner.
  19. At all times behave in a professional and courteous manner. Be a role model in the facility.
  20. Requires the ability to stand and walk for a minimum 8-hour shift; work on-site, overtime, swing or night shift and weekends.
  21. Requires the ability to constantly lift, carry, push and pull 35 pounds.
  22. Required to open or close facility. Must punch in immediately upon entering the facility, and punch out after all closing tasks have been completed.

Other Duties

  1. Partner with others to resolve issues, improve plant safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  2. Drive a forklift to assist with production as needed.
  3. Occasionally may be required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  4. Participate in special projects as required.
  5. Partner with plant leadership to develop short- and long-term goals for the facility, as well as new product/process development and implementation.
  6. Serve as a resource and leader in the implementation of new programs and procedures and process improvements.
  7. Assist in the development of and adherence to department budget.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationship

  1. Reports to the Plant Manager.
  2. Works closely with shipping and maintenance supervisors, Human Resources and all staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. 2 years’ experience managing multiple employees.
  2. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  3. Able to become Red Cross First Aid and CPR certified.
  4. Develop knowledge of products manufactured and sold, paper grades and quality, and converting operations.
  5. Excellent logical decision-making ability.
  6. Excellent communication skills.
  7. Ability to partner with and lead employees at all levels of the organization.
  8. Be flexible responding to changing customer and production scheduling needs.

Qualifications

  1. 2 years’ experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  2. Prior experience in paper manufacturing.
  3. Forklift experience.
  4. BA or BS in business management.
  5. Bilingual English-Spanish.

Physical Environment/Working Conditions

This position is in the factory, where temperature fluctuations occur throughout the year. Employees must use eye and hearing protection and exercise caution around equipment and forklifts.
