Title: Production Manager

Location: Huntsville, AL

Position Status: Full Time

Work Schedule:

Regular hours are Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Employees may need to adjust work hours during surge situations.

Brief Job Description:

The production manager plans, schedules, and manages production processes. Assists with planning, directing, and conducting material cost/pricing, related to BOM development and submission. Develop relationships with customers to foster capability growth. The production manager will also identify potential suppliers, work with procurement to screen them, and negotiate favorable payment terms with selected suppliers related to supporting production operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies potential suppliers based on project requirements
  • Acts as the primary point of contact between our business and customers and suppliers related to wire harness production
  • Utilization of Axxeum's ERP Software
  • Conduct material cost/pricing, establish process for material basis of estimate, provide material pricing training, ensure compliance with pertinent government pricing regulations, collaborate with finance/procurement/program.
    • Develop and produce compliant material cost and price proposals, including cost models and template; formats and pricing rational in accordance with customer instructions and company policies; establish and document costing methodology.
    • Enhance estimating methodologies.
    • Develop material pricing process training materials and documentation.
    • Identifying competitive pricing strategies and assist in analysis of bids.
  • Collaborates with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
  • Manages an efficient production flow to ensure optimum production with focus on consistent improvements
  • Create and maintain accurate and consistent multi-level Bills of Material (BOM) to support order management, manufacturing, material requirements and cost.
    • Coordinate information to create bill of materials to be used in production.
    • Ensure accuracy and timely creation and maintenance of BOMs and product information.
    • Update BOMs as required when revisions are released.
  • Works with managers, operations department, and executives within the company to engage in capital projects
  • Monitors changes in the industry and develops forecasts to determine appropriate budgets; these forecasts are then used to develop comprehensive strategies to further the company's operational goals.
  • Tracks and reports key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve efficiencies in production
  • Assists BD Staff in presenting our capabilities to other companies (Large OEMs)
  • Performs other tasks as needed

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Should have at least five (5) years of experience in a related field
  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent; A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is desired
  • Must have working knowledge of the commercial and DoD aviation support industry and market conditions
  • Must have strong understanding of production, procurement and negotiation techniques
  • Must have strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Must be able to travel to meet with customers and suppliers and work overtime, as required
  • Must demonstrate positive, polite, and professional behavior at all times when dealing with co-workers, customers, and all levels of management
  • Must have the ability to communicate using clear, concise, and accurate English; both verbal and written are required

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift, move, and transport items frequently over 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

Generally, work is conducted in an inside environment, but may also involve some outside work depending on the task. The inside environment may be in an office or cubicle with close quarters, low to moderate noise, and bright or dim lighting. Outside work or travel may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates.
