The University of Virginia is a highly competitive Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for a Director of Recruiting and Branding Strategy. This position is responsible for creating and implementing all aspects of the recruiting and branding efforts for a high-level Division 1 Women’s Basketball program under the direction of the Head Coach. This position will assist the Women’s Basketball program with carrying out the athletic department and team’s mission statement to recruit and retain the best student-athletes. This includes building individual strategic plans for marketing and branding for potential and current student-athletes, developing relationships with influencers, and marketing and branding for the UVA Women’s Basketball program for the purpose of recruiting and individual brand development. They will also be responsible for implementing and executing the marketing and correspondence which includes social media and all forms of creative content. They will also serve as the liaison to NIL, marketing, ticket sales, VAF, Cav Futures and Virginia Sports Properties departments. They are charged with working independently as well as collaboratively on projects designed to support the competitive success of the Basketball Program.


The successful Individual must possess excellent strategic and creative skills and demonstrate excellent customer service. Work must be done in a highly organized manner with a strong attention to detail. Applicants must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Essential Functions:
  • Manage the official roster for women’s basketball in collaboration with the head coach.
  • Create cutting-edge recruiting and brand plans for prospective student-athletes.
  • Assist in development and execution of a recruiting strategic plan.
  • Build relationships with constituents (donors, corporate partners, media outlets, etc.) in collaboration with VAF, Cav Futures and Virginia Sports Properties.
  • Maintain organized recruiting databases, recruiting lists and call sheets.
  • Strategize and implement plans for on-campus recruiting visits for potential student-athletes, including but not limited to coordination of travel, lodging, and meals as well as the development of creative itineraries for both individual visits and group visits.
  • Assist with proactive compliance practices for prospective student-athletes.
  • Coordinate signee's initial eligibility with the NCAA eligibility center.
  • Supervise and be responsible for the numerous aspects of the growth in recruiting technology.
  • Perform various duties as assigned by the Head Coach to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4+ years') related experience. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Some working knowledge of the sport program to be supported.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft programs.

  • Physical ability to engage in repetitive motion.
  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • Ability to travel.

Physical Demands:

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings and programs.


About the Position:

The salary range for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The selected candidate will pass a background check. This position will not sponsor applicants for work visas. This is a full-time position with UVa benefits. Employees benefits package highlights include:
