Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer / Principal Manufacturing Engineer supporting our Production Engineering and Operations (PE&O) organization. The selected candidate will join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Melbourne, FL.

Please Note: This position is ON-SITE in Melbourne, FL and cannot be performed remotely due to the nature of the role. Travel is estimated to be around 10%.

Manufacturing Engineering job duties involve the following: provide guidance to Engineering regarding design concepts to ensure the best manufacturing technique is being used, participate in tool design reviews to ensure tools are feasible and reduce build times and program costs, define sequence of operations for product builds, investigate and initiate corrective actions and improvements for non-conforming products, and identify improvement opportunities in areas that require producibility and affordability initiatives. Manufacturing Engineers for Aeronautics Systems are expected to provide technical solutions to complex problems and act as the technical representative voice for the Manufacturing organization.

This requisition may be filled at a Manufacturing Engineer / Principal Manufacturing Engineer based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications (Manufacturing Engineer):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 1 year of related engineering experience OR Master’s Degree in STEM and 0 years of experience
  • Experience in NX, Catia, CAD, and/or related Computer aided design programs.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and/or Microsoft PowerPoint).
  • Must have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Access Program within a reasonable amount of time.

Basic Qualifications (Principal Manufacturing Engineer):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM and 4 years of related engineering experience, Master’s Degree in STEM and 3 years of related engineering experience OR PhD with 1 year of related engineering experience
  • Experience in NX, Catia, CAD, and/or related Computer aided design programs.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and/or Microsoft PowerPoint).
  • Must have the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Access Program within a reasonable amount of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with composite layup of pre-preg laminates and sandwich structures.
  • Experience authoring large scale assembly-level work instructions.
  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Manufacturing work instructions or instruction authoring experience.
  • Experience with developing enhancement processes that improve production shop floor efficiencies.
  • Experience with reviewing engineering models during the concept design phase for manufacturing producibility.
  • Excellent communicator, ability to provide product improvement proposals and present to engineering designers and technical team for approval.
  • Experience providing innovative techniques focused on improving product designs and tooling assemblies or equipment.
  • Aerospace Defense Manufacturing experience.

Salary Range: $68,500 - $102,700

Salary Range 2: $84,200 - $126,400

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
