The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) at Pulsafeeder is a vital role in the evaluation, refinement, design, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment. The ME will apply and execute lean principles to make process improvements in a high mix/low volume operation. This role aims to achieve the highest possible levels of product quality, increase manufacturing output, and reduce manufacturing waste and cost through effective engagement with the production team and cross-functional departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  2. Drive process improvements to lower costs, improve throughput, and increase efficiency while maintaining or exceeding quality and safety.
  3. Troubleshoot and countermeasure problems with existing production processes to ensure throughput and improved first pass yield.
  4. Drive the identification and adoption of "best practices" from other IDEX business units and benchmark industry best practices.
  5. Responsible for Tooling and Fixtures - evaluate and coordinate with CI Manager, Quality Engineer, and Production Manager for tooling and fixture updates and/or replacements.
  6. Design assembly fixtures and tooling to increase manufacturing efficiencies.
  7. Lead the selection, installation, and validation of new equipment to improve manufacturing processes.
  8. Ownership of standard product routings across all product lines in collaboration with Commercial Engineering and Continuous Improvement Manager.
  9. Act as a champion for Lean/Six Sigma best practices and lead Rapid Improvement Events.
  10. Help sustain and improve the visual factory management processes.
  11. Manufacturing representative for the new product development team to ensure successful transition from concept to manufacturability.
  12. Establish new production processes and develop standardized documentation including work instructions, visual aids, and operating procedures.
  13. Lead process FMEAs and use the output to develop robust manufacturing processes.
  14. Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services to keep production equipment operational.
  15. Responsible for operational productivity improvements.
  16. Assist in the planning and implementation of lean manufacturing strategies.
  17. Ensure compliance with all government laws and regulations.
  18. Write process deviation and rework instructions as required.
  19. Shop floor support as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Minimum 3 years’ experience in lean manufacturing or process-oriented environment.
  2. B.S. in an Engineering discipline.
  3. Able to read, understand, and produce Engineering CAD drawings utilizing geometric tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M-1994.
  4. Experience with 3D CAD system, preferably Solidworks.
  5. Experience in ISO9001 manufacturing environment.
  6. Experience in Union environment recommended.
  7. Familiarity with pumps, hydraulics, and instrumentation preferred.
  8. Fundamental knowledge of manufacturing processes, milling, turning, grinding, castings, and surface treatments.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. In-depth understanding and ability to apply the principles and tools of lean manufacturing.
  2. Possess a strong sense of ownership and drive to utilize available resources.
  3. Excellent communication/presentation skills (written and verbal).
  4. Well organized, and comfortable working under pressure.
  5. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  6. Bias towards action and velocity in execution.
  7. Ability to influence behavioral change.
  8. Able to work collaboratively with all departments.
  9. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $57,900.00 - $86,900.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for a performance-based bonus plan.
