Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and evaluate manufacturing methods.
- Use innovative and practical methods to make improvements in manufacturing methods that result in improved quality and increased productivity while maintaining a safe working environment.
- Design and document tooling designs on drawings that communicate tooling requirements to toolmakers.
- Perform research, design, and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.
- Use appropriate project management techniques to ensure tools, gauges, fixtures, equipment, routings, and the CNC programs are fully defined, documented, and implemented.
- Design, develop, test, or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate manufacturing requirements and potential including machine capability studies, etc.
- Support 5-S efforts throughout the plant.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of personal computers and related software, including MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor.
- CNC Programming experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.
- Experience setting up and operating state-of-the-art equipment.
- Well-versed in machine shop manufacturing processes and setups.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
