We are looking for a Welding Engineer to join our Target Rock team!
As our Welding Engineer you will be responsible for the development of welding techniques and procedures for all welding applications and/or qualifications. You will also be responsible for oversight of the metallurgical laboratory. Additionally, you will manage the technical requirements and welding activities to comply with both Military Welding Standard NAVSEA 250-1500 and Boiler Pressure Vessel Code ASME Section IX. Experience in GTAW, PTA, and Oxyacetylene, and Welding Automation desired. You will be responsible for investigating and evaluating welding rejects and non-compliance issues, determining appropriate cause(s) and corrective action(s). You will recommend effective utilization of welding human resources and equipment to meet the Company’s goals.
Location: East Farmingdale, NY
Salary/hourly rate: $63,100 to $85,000

Develop new welding procedures, oversee performance and evaluation of weld qualifications, and obtain required customer approvals of procedures and qualifications.
Interact and provide technical support to welding production personnel. Investigate and evaluate welding defects to determine appropriate cause(s) and corrective action(s).
Primary technical interface with customers and vendors on welding issues.
Evaluate and implement use of new welding technology. Select and recommend new welding equipment. Oversee procurements and installations of new equipment. Develop welding procedures and train personnel for the utilization of new equipment.
Review new requests for quotations for new welding requirements. Coordinate and provide Contract/Sales and/or Project Engineering with both welding plans and production welding estimates, including recommendations for new equipment, as applicable.
Provide oversight of weld record preparation and weld procedure and welder qualification records.
Interact/participate at administrative and/or production meetings to support engineering/manufacturing and program management.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
What You Bring
Engineering degree from ABET accredited Engineering Program.
Advanced Degree in Engineering with a major in metallurgy, materials science, or welding engineering.
Must be a U.S Citizen.
Advanced Education and diversified background in welding. A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience as a welding application engineer in a manufacturing environment where Oxyacetylene Hardsurfacing, PTA, GTA x-ray quality structure and seal welding as well as LASER and electron beam welding.
Strength in engineering metallurgy of material properties, material specifications, pre and post heat-treatment requirements, brazing.
Knowledge of critical weld joints and hardsurfacing deposits.
