This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time/adjunct assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary: The successful applicant will be expected to provide quality instruction in all phases of welding and related areas including but not limited to manufacturing, fabrication, inspection, and safety. Teach courses that could include online courses and/or dual-credit/early college classes. Demonstrate knowledge and abilities in the teaching discipline. Teach courses in a variety of times and locations in response to institutional need. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and materials to assist students who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes. Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials. Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the course syllabus guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods, and schedule of work. Hold scheduled, posted virtual or physical office hours of at least one hour daily and be available for and encourage conferences with students.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate in Applied Science in Welding Applied Technology AND five (5) years of documented work experience in the Welding field
OR
Eight (8) or more years of documented work experience in the Welding field.
Additionally, five (5) years of welding experience in the GTAW / SMAW Pipe and Plate process and five (5) years of welding experience in the GMAW / FCAW Pipe and Plate process.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
A minimum of five years welding experience in multi-groove welds in the following processes: SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW. Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to ensure course content and objectives are met. Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students. Successful college teaching experience is required. Successful experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other appropriate media in instruction. Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective Instructor and the aptitude to assist both new and returning students achieve their educational goals and objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of Pipe/Vessel Fabrication welding experience. Successful college teaching experience utilizing instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other appropriate media in instruction. Experience teaching college-level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas).
