The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is responsible for inspecting parts and assemblies for nonconformities, acceptability, and accuracy to drawings and/or customer requirements, using multiple methods per regulatory, customer, and internal requirements. Candidates for this role shall have a working knowledge of all inspection equipment, roles, and processes such as visual inspection, hydrostatic, and various NDE methods. The CWI will be responsible for helping to detect the root cause of Quality issues as well as keeping track of Quality documentation. The CWI must have applicable knowledge of ASME, AWS, API, and ISO standards and must have a current certification.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform internal Welder Training & testing, internal checks, and visual inspections.
  2. Provide Training, Training Aids, and Instructions to ensure Operator and Quality Inspection effectiveness.
  3. Perform inspections on material and product throughout the production process.
  4. Provide Subject Matter Expertise in dispositioning of questionable product welds.
  5. Provide support to Operations/Manufacturing Engineering regarding weld-related matters.
  6. Perform relevant non-destructive examinations using varying methods.
  7. Complete all documentation required for tracking and record keeping.
  8. Author weld-related process documentation in support of Operations and Quality.
  9. Complete all required data entry and evaluate results of data entered.
  10. Perform root cause analysis on non-conformities found.
  11. The successful candidate will be able to train, coordinate, and communicate effectively with all departments and personnel.
  12. Comply with all applicable Process Documentation.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  1. 2 years’ experience as Code Welder, Quality Inspector, or equivalent knowledge.
  2. Current Certified Welding Inspector certification.
  3. ASME and AWS code knowledge required.
  4. Candidate should have at least LVL 1 training in VT/PT/UT/MT and RT Film Interpretation.
  5. Must be meticulous about capturing and retaining information.
  6. Must have basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Record-keeping software, etc.)
  7. Must have professional & effective communication skills, both verbal & written.
  8. Willingness and ability to travel as needed (~10 - 25%).
  9. Support multiple HUBBELL locations with primary focus being Oklahoma & California.
  10. Must be able to work in a team environment and be able to explain issues clearly.
  11. Must be able to support organization matters via remote/virtual platforms, i.e. MS Teams.
  12. Must be analytical and detail-oriented.
  13. Must have working knowledge of mathematical and measurement principles.
  14. Must have a positive attitude and a desire to continually improve.
  15. Understanding of Lean principles and practices is strongly preferred.
  16. OSHA safety training and HazMat training preferred.
  17. Related Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
