The Manager for Club Sports, Intramural Sports, Esports and Special Events reports to the Assistant Director, Students Programs and is a member of the division’s management team. The Manager leads a program area comprised of multiple programs, operations, and services; including Club Sports (32 clubs, 1,000+ students), Intramural Sports (1,500+ students), the esports/eGaming lounge that opens Winter 2025 and divisional student special events and drop-in programming.
The Manager is responsible for the management of an exceptional and diverse student experience that maximizes engagement and participation, which includes, without limitation: program and operational procedure and policy development, program offerings and facility scheduling, marketing and promotion, hiring, training, education and management of program staff, eGaming Lounge and Diane Wendt Sports Fields facility management, and annual fundraising that supports the mission, guiding principles, and priorities of the University and the Division of Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness, & Recreation (KMCWR). The Manager is responsible for remaining within the parameters of each program area operating budget as well as coordinating an exceptional student experience by managing the front-line interactions including parking, facility entry and approved access, transaction and registration experience, facility and staff quality, communication, safety and risk management, and addressing student concerns, needs, issues, and opportunities. In addition to program and operation management, the Manager works with the Assistant Director, Marketing & Communications and Assistant Director, Student Programs to conduct program and operation experience evaluations.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the daily oversight, safety, quality, and advancement of the Club Sports program area that promotes an engaging and competitive student development experience that achieves $500,000+ in Club Sports program registrations and $200,000+ in Club Sports Annual Fund.
- Responsible for managing on campus Esports lounge on campus (Centennial Halls Lounge) and advancing Esports opportunities through organized programming and service that promote an engaging, safe, relationship building and student development experience.
- Responsible for advancing Intramural Sports and Special Events through programs and services that promote an engaging, safe, and fun experience that achieves $10,000+ in Intramural Sports/Special Event program registrations and engages 3,000+ students in the Intramural Sports/Special Event Program.
- Recruit, hire, train and manage approximately 50-75 part-time staff members including all Club Sport Coaches, Student Programs Interns, Esports staff, and Intramural Sports officials and staff.
- Focus on the growth, development, well-being, diversity and inclusion of the team members. Support initiatives that reflect the intellectual vibrancy, creativity, and strength of the DU student body, as well as its increasing diversity.
- Responsible for offering a minimum number of special events each quarter with the focus of promoting student engagement, connecting with alumni, or fundraising efforts.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Interim Vice Chancellor to contribute to the overall success of Student Affairs and Inclusive Excellence and Kennedy Mountain Campus, Wellness & Recreation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in kinesiology, sports management, health education, recreation, student affairs, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two (2) + years working in higher education, emphasizing sports programming and facility operations.
- Demonstrated competency in budget management, facility management, program development and operation.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
- The position is based in an office setting, with frequent computer use.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Work Schedule
37.5 hours per week. Varied schedule to include nights and weekends.

The salary grade for the position is 8.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $58,656-$62,200.
