The Graphics Studio Technical Manager position is a role that requires the ability to work well among multiple teams, manage the output of all Studio-related GFX projects, and provide support to teams using the Sports Studios. This role is fundamental in helping to lay the technical foundation for all Studio systems & elements from the Creative Team while also keeping track of functionality for the Graphics Operators in the Studio.

This job involves communicating regularly with vendors and internal stakeholders providing hardware, software, and creative elements. The manager must remain in constant contact to ensure everything is on schedule and works within the framework being built. This includes staying up to date on all software and hardware specs and making updates as needed. Additionally, management of all Graphics hardware and licenses that Amazon implements for the Studio will be fundamental to success in this role.

Key Job Responsibilities

The Studio Graphics Technical Manager role within the Amazon Prime Video Production team is an important contributor to the product line across all Live Sports properties. Focusing on sustainable standards and practices that apply to all products within the pipeline, the manager will be responsible for delivering the highest quality of Graphics production to Amazon’s customers on every event, every time.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Oversee day-to-day workflow of all assets and documents to ensure they are efficiently delivered as required and outlined in Prime Video Live Sports Production Post Delivery Guidelines for each Studio live event.
  2. Work closely with Production teams and vendors to manage timely delivery of assets.
  3. Liaise with production teams (internal and external) and vendors regularly to ensure best practices are communicated as the delivery of assets move into the QC stage.
  4. Ensure all assets and documents (broadcast materials, archival elements/paperwork) are efficiently delivered and adhere to technical specifications, follow mandated file naming conventions, and pass QC.
  5. Learn new platforms as in-house Studio Graphics tools expand.
  6. Collaborate with Technical Operations & Technology teams to improve existing tools and operational workflows by identifying problem areas and providing smart solutions.
  7. Coordinate and track high volume of work through an end-to-end workflow.
  8. Clearly articulate and document technical processes.
  9. Some travel is required.

A Day in the Life

In the studio:

  • Management of Studio Integration: Initial build and integration of Graphics hardware and software in Sports Studios.
  • Live Events: Responsibilities will include ensuring everything needed for Graphics & AR in Studio is ready and available, including documentation for Studio Operators.
  • Training: Facilitating and managing necessary training for Studio Operators as needed.
  • Maintenance: Keeping track of Studio hardware and licenses, while being responsible for implementing updates – including testing and verifying before they are sent to on-air equipment in the Studio workspace.
  • Support: Work with in-studio Operators & vendors to track and fix issues that arise. The Graphics Studio TM will need to build relationships with vendors/partners in the Studio and have an open-door policy towards teams coming in with issues.
  • Media Asset Management & Data Integration: Responsible for Studio implementation of internal/external Media Asset Management & Data integrations projects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of digital graphic assets and file formats required.
  • 5+ years of technical program management experience working directly with Graphics and/or software engineering teams.
  • Experience managing cross-functional programs and release schedules.
  • Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design.
  • Experience developing and delivering product and technical roadmaps.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous Studio Build experience.
  • 7+ Years Experience with Broadcast Graphic Systems. Previous Viz Artist experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience working in a Live Sports environment with AR/VR/XR systems and broadcast implementation.
  • Previous background in international content or localization of content a plus.
  • Previous project management experience desired.
