Summary of Position
The Lead Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing preventative and predictive maintenance to all production equipment. In addition to this, they are responsible for being a senior member of the maintenance team, providing leadership and expertise to other technicians, as well as auditing completed PMs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 7 maintenance technicians on shift.
- Coordinate with shift leadership team to ensure desired outcomes.
- Synchronize with production, quality, and maintenance personnel as needed.
- Ensure proper usage of CMMS.
- Monitor and enforce PM completion and work order completion for corrective actions.
- Maintain production equipment to maximize operating performance and assist with maintaining electrical spare parts’ inventory levels.
- Perform installation, setup, modification, and relocation of equipment to accommodate or improve production requirements.
- Ensure the production schedule is not jeopardized due to machine breakdown or unsafe operating conditions and inform Maintenance Manager about changes in electric circuits and update original diagrams.
- Adhere to work orders, preventive/predictive maintenance systems by filling in required forms and organizing workplace to comply with housekeeping requirements.
- Complete electrical and mechanical projects based on direction given from Maintenance Supervisor as required by government regulation.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and follow company safety policies, procedures, and regulations always.
- Initiate and complete all other jobs, projects, and special assignments as directed by Maintenance Supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and recommend measures to improve health and safety.
- Repair and replace electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic and electronic components such as motors, contactors, relays, timers, types of switches, PLCs, light curtains, motor controls, and valves.
Skills
- Able to read wiring diagrams, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic schematics and ladder/function block logic.
- Working knowledge of industrial PCs and PLCs (Siemens Step 7, Beckhoff TwinCat, etc.) and electric circuitry consisting of contactors, relays, main voltage/control voltage, limit switches and proximity sensors.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Team-oriented.
- Reliability and continuous improvement-driven.
- High degree of attention to detail, precision, and follow-through.
- Willing and able to work rotating shifts.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum 6 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
Preferred:
- A technical certificate from trade school.
Compensation and Benefits
- $32-45/Hour
