Job Summary:

Working as the Director of Housekeeping Services, you are responsible for the overall management of the Environmental Services/Housekeeping Department in a retirement community. You will manage the department within the established objectives, standards, policies and procedures and remain in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. You will be financially accountable for the environmental service/housekeeping department operating within the approved budget, while providing the Client with the maximum value spent. In addition, you will be expected to foster strong interdepartmental relations and integrate the environmental service department with the facility plan of operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintains an environment that is sanitary, attractive and in orderly condition.
2. Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and supervises functions and activities of the department.
3. Conducts regular management staff meetings and communicates with members of other departments to coordinate housekeeping activities.
4. Maintains the department in an “inspection ready” state at all times, ensuring the department operates within federal, state, and local regulations.
5. Maintains excellent relations with residents, Client and all community departments.
6. Serves on community committees and professional organizations.
7. Follows all Client and community policies and procedures.
8. Promotes the professional growth and development of the entire team and the department employees at all times.
9. Implements change to the environmental service program that enhances the desirability of the community for current and future residents.
10. Maintains appropriate security for all Client-owned property, supplies and operating funds.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. B.S. Degree in related field or related experience is required.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
3. Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification highly desirable.
4. Minimum of five years of EVS/Housekeeping experience in a retirement or adult home preferred, depending upon formal degree or training.
5. Two plus years of direct EVS/Housekeeping operational management experience.
6. Excellent customer services skills and experiences.
7. Experience with Federal & State healthcare surveys.
8. Experience with P&L accountability highly desirable.
9. Contract-managed service experience is desirable.
