Responsibilities for Director of Maintenance/Housekeeping:

  • Performing hands-on maintenance and repair work as required and directing maintenance technicians in the performance of maintenance and repair work.
  • Conducting, scheduling, and/or directing ongoing and preventive maintenance programs including HVAC, plumbing, water, gas, electrical, mechanical, sprinkler/fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, communications, carpentry, painting, plastering, refinishing and similar work.
  • Managing, directing and supervising all department staff including housekeeping/laundry associates, maintenance, and enforcing compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, state/federal codes and safe work practices.
  • Experience in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting and preventative maintenance, preferred.
  • Supervise all staff in the Housekeeping Dept. and laundry.
  • Attend and participate in departmental staff meetings, development, and training courses.
  • Ability to function appropriately under stressful conditions.
  • Good stress management skills required.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements for Director of Maintenance/Housekeeping:

  • Previous experience as a Director of Maintenance/Housekeeping preferred.
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills and an ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, experienced in managing 1199 union facilities.
