The Retail Boutique Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the boutique, ensuring exceptional customer service, effective merchandising, and operational efficiency. This role involves managing staff, maintaining inventory, and making purchasing decisions to keep the store aligned with business objectives and customer needs. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchasing & Vendor Relations
- Product Selection: Research and select merchandise that aligns with the boutique’s brand, customer preferences, and seasonal trends.
- Vendor Relations: Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and product quality to ensure optimal inventory levels.
- Ordering: Monitor stock levels and place regular orders to replenish popular items and introduce new products.
- Budgeting: Work within a set purchasing budget while maximizing profitability.
- Inventory Management
- Stock Control: Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels to ensure products are available without overstocking.
- Inventory Audits: Conduct regular physical inventory counts to ensure accuracy and prevent stock discrepancies.
- Stock Rotation: Manage product rotation based on seasonality, demand, and product shelf life to ensure freshness and appeal.
- Merchandising
- Visual Merchandising: Develop and implement attractive displays that highlight key products and create an inviting shopping environment.
- Product Placement: Strategically place products in-store to drive sales and enhance the overall customer shopping experience.
- Store Layout: Continuously assess and adjust the layout of the boutique to maximize foot traffic and product exposure.
- Seasonal Changes: Oversee the transition of product displays to reflect seasonal trends and promotions.
- Staffing & Team Management
- Staff Hiring & Training: Recruit, hire, and onboard new staff members. Provide ongoing training to ensure staff are knowledgeable about products and customer service protocols.
- Leadership: Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative, productive, and positive work environment.
- Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals for individual team members, and offer constructive feedback.
- Conflict Resolution: Address any personnel issues promptly and professionally, ensuring a harmonious work environment.
- Scheduling & Labor Management
- Staff Scheduling: Create and manage weekly staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours and special events.
- Timekeeping: Monitor staff attendance and work hours, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.
- Customer Service & Sales
- Customer Engagement: Foster an exceptional in-store shopping experience by providing personalized customer service.
- Sales Goals: Set daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals for the team and monitor performance, providing motivation and guidance as needed.
- Problem Resolution: Handle customer complaints or issues swiftly and professionally to maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with regular customers, promoting repeat business and customer retention.
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Sales Tracking: Track daily, weekly, and monthly sales, comparing performance to targets and identifying areas for improvement.
- Budget Adherence: Manage the store's operational expenses, including payroll, supplies, and inventory costs, ensuring adherence to the store’s financial budget.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports on sales, inventory, and staffing for management and ownership.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in retail management or a related field, ideally in a boutique or fashion retail environment.
- Education: High school diploma required; college degree in business, retail management, or a related field preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of retail sales, inventory management, and visual merchandising.
- Ability to make data-driven decisions and adapt to changing retail trends.
- Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving ability.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move stock, stand for extended periods, and manage the physical demands of a retail environment.
Working Conditions:
- Hours: Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, based on business needs.
