In this context, Spellman High Voltage Electronics Corp. is seeking a highly talented, motivated, creative, and experienced leader in requirements/systems engineering management.For this critical role, our expectations are to work with peers and the wider engineering team to support the execution of a portfolio of Engineering product development activities to ensure their effective, methodical and successful execution while bringing a system engineering based development approach.Further, in this role, people management / soft skills, coaching and mentoring, are all key requirements to be successful.What You Will Do You will be immersed in the Engineering product design and development environment and will contribute to projects from concept through to prototype validation and then production ramp collaboratively with other members of the greater multi-functional team such as the New Product Introduction (NPI) Program Manager, Director of Project Management and others such as Director of Product Portfolio to name a few. You will build and lead the Systems Engineering discipline whereby you will support related hiring and build-up of the department, driving and ensuring process discipline and competence development. You will participate in and/or lead the local and corporate methods & tools development and process improvements.Further, you and your team will work with other experts in the wider engineering team to analyze design specifications for the products and applications of interest, including functionaldecomposition, additional derived functional and design specifications, and overall requirements definition and flow-down to all Engineering design disciplines, and in support of performance management and validation. You will also contribute to additional systems engineering tasks within and in support of the product development plan and framework, from conceptualization through prototyping, including design, integration, verification, and validation to affect the full product development lifecycle. Experience reviewing customer specifications, working with suppliers, and manufacturing to deliver finished product according to those specifications is critically important.You will use your engineering background to understand the product requirements, technical risks and contribute to the validation strategy to enable and support the acceleration of the development process as defined and managed in the Project execution plan led by the assigned Engineering Project Manager.You are expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy on all assigned tasks/projects while contributing to the development of tools and processes that improve the organization’s productivity (applicable metrics, at-a-glance dashboards, requirements management breakdown and flow-down...etc.).Working with the wider Engineering team, help identify tactical (exercise operational excellence) and creative ways to overcome obstacles while mitigating setbacks and meeting deadlines.Process the requirements: formal and traceable management, analysis, structuring and documentation in transparent form, including corresponding sources and configuration management.Perform formal requirements decomposition and flow-down and corresponding documentationPerform functional allocation of requirements and use to establish solution architecture.Analyze, define and allocate subsystem and component performance requirements.Develop requirement artifacts (e.g. requirements specifications, derived, flow-down...etc.)Check the content of requirements regarding comprehensibility, consistency, cross references, dependencies and later checkability (acceptance criteria).Define interfaces via ICDs and IRDs and all relevant industry best practicesSupport the verification of the requirement fulfillment in the execution phase in cooperation with all stakeholders.Support, and Liaise with the Director of Engineering Project Management and other Engineering and cross-functional managers to ensure the effective and efficient project planning based on execution scope as driven by customer requirementsSupport the Director of Engineering Project Management to identify and evaluate the risks and opportunities associated with customer requirements impact on design and validation efforts, programs activities and contribute in taking appropriate action(s) to control the risks and opportunities.Using your engineering background in Embedded Systems and Controls, support the Director of ES&C department at his request and as needed in the areas of process (for instance and not limited to: regression testing, HW in the loop, Sim-Stim, Design reviews....etc.)What You Need 15+ years of experience in a fast pace NPI, cross-function teams-oriented environment developing power conversion (High Voltage a plus), solutions for high volume mass production products.Demonstrate understanding of industry best practices and standards of systems engineering as related to new product development cycles and criticality of time-to-market.Ability to grasp complex technical topics and abstract key issues and risks in an actionable form, from a systems engineering perspective.Experience in leading large group of people, and able to remain calm with big picture in mind in the face of uncertainties.Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills, as well as excellent communication skills from teams to Executives, both verbal and written.BS in an engineering discipline or equivalent practical knowledge. Masters is preferred, but not required.Strong experience/background with product and technology development methodologies, with a strong system engineering culture.Strong relationship and team building skills along with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment while enabling and empowering innovation and a multi-view point engineering and technical debate.Build relationships by establishing and maintaining positive working report with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organizationWell organized with excellent written and verbal communication skillsMentoring and coaching mind-set is a must.Ability to multitask: Ensure no balls are dropped.Energy and enthusiasm – and portrays these traits openlyFlexible and adaptable to changeSelf-motivated with problem solving and decision making skillsOur good faith estimate of the salary range for this role is $220,000 - $247,000.
