The Director of Commercial Banking’s primary roles will be to (1) develop, grow, and manage commercial business relationships in the assigned region and/or vertical, including offering bank products such as deposit products and treasury management services to support a relationship-based approach and (2) develop and lead a team of Commercial Banking associates to grow the entire region and/or vertical. Principal Accountabilities: Grows a self-sourced portfolio of commercial loans, with minimum targets generally ranging from $18MM to $30MM. Responsible for ensuring that clients’ entire banking relationship needs are met by making introductions to experts in private banking, treasury management, and other applicable bank products. Develops and facilitates others in becoming the primary relationship manager for clients within the portfolio. Manages portfolio to sound credit quality, overall portfolio return, client retention, and relationship banking. Leads and develops a team of Commercial Bankers to ensure each is meeting individual production and service goals. Solicits, analyzes, structures, risk rates, presents for approval, negotiates, and coordinates the documentation of commercial loan requests. Manages pipeline reporting and calling program using Salesforce. Ensures a safe work environment that promotes a positive bank image. Understands, embodies, communicates, and instills corporate initiatives and vision, including the six Pillars of Success. Maintains client information in complete confidence. Completes other specified duties as assigned. Regular attendance required, working at the assigned worksite or assigned remote location during regular business hours. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration required; MBA or other related graduate degree preferred. Proven track record of relationship-based business development with sustained portfolio growth. Ten-plus years of related commercial lending or portfolio management experience. Seven-plus years of management experience. Strong credit analysis skills are required. Proficient use of standard computer/software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Salesforce, PowerPoint, and others. Must be goal-oriented, self-disciplined, self-motivated, and client-focused with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Physical Requirements: The work environment is typical of a standard office or retail banking setting. The position is sedentary, involving sitting most of the workday; however, the position will involve moving about the workspace to reach entrances/exits, restrooms, or other areas. The ability to express or exchange ideas and to convey detailed information is required. If the associate works in our hybrid work program, lifting of about 5 lbs. (laptop) is required twice daily.
