Brown and Caldwell has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated entry-level Structural Engineer to join our team. We offer a collaborative, multi-discipline, and hybrid work environment to develop innovative designs for new water/wastewater related facilities, expansions, upgrades and retrofits. Our ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized, and be capable of working in a diverse team environment and handling multiple tasks with competing priorities. You will be working with technical staff and executing the following:


Roles and Responsibilities:


  1. Perform structural engineering designs on water and wastewater projects under the direction of experienced Professional Engineers, including treatment plants, pipelines, and pumping stations for municipal clients.
  2. Perform preliminary design activities such as studies, data analysis, and alternatives analyses.
  3. Support conceptual through detailed design development, development of contract drawings and specifications, bid package preparation, field investigations and support during construction, both in office and in field.
  4. Perform contractor construction submittal reviews, request for information (RFI) documents and general structural design activities.
  5. Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables.
  6. Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (Engineers, Designers).
  7. Coordinate project work with geotechnical, architectural, process, civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical engineers and consultants.

Required Qualifications:


  1. BS in Structural Engineering.
  2. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
  3. Familiarity with fundamental technical topics, including Concrete Design, Steel Design and Geotechnical engineering.
  4. Effective oral and written communication.
  5. Able to multi-task, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and work independently with a willingness to learn.
  6. Candidate should be a self-starter, results-oriented and be able to work under tight and pressured deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:


  1. Proficiency with Mathcad
  2. Proficiency with Revit
  3. Proficiency with structural modeling software (e.g., STAAD, RISA)
  4. EIT qualifications or intent to pursue EIT standing.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.


Location A: $65,000 - $88,000


Location B: $71,000 - $97,000


Location C: $78,000 - $106,000
