TEC Group Inc. is hiring: Shipping and Receiving Clerk in Sterling Heights

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Shipping & Receiving Clerk with an automation company. Will verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties. Leads additional personnel within the shipping and receiving area.

Position Type: Full Time Long Term Contract with Opp. for Direct Hire

SHIFT: Days 6:00am - 4:30pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencil identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or select preassembled containers.
• Insert items into containers.
• Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage.
• Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Route items to departments.
• Load all welding and assembly systems on flatbed trucks for delivery to customer plants.
• Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
• Operate tier lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
• Adhere to the Quality System and participate in continuous improvement.
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
• Understand and follow safety & environmental regulations and identify safety/environmental concerns.

Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
