This individual will play a pivotal role in developing innovative and effective solutions for our DoD customers within the IC sector.
Role Overview:
The Senior Linux Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing systems engineering, infrastructure support, and Linux system administration in large enterprise environments. This role includes operational and maintenance tasks, technical evaluations, and contributing to system development and baseline management.
Primary Duties:
- Perform systems engineering and software development in multiple large enterprise server environments (e.g., Linux, Red Hat, and CentOS).
- Provide technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools.
- Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities.
- Prepare required documentation, including program-level and user-level materials.
- Assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures.
- Perform technical evaluations and analysis to support system performance.
- Support the customer in the development and maintenance of system baselines.
- Assess server loads and work with technical leads to develop tuning recommendations.
- Provide operational pager/phone duty support as part of O&M responsibilities.
- Complete day-to-day Operations & Maintenance (O&M) tasks.
- Perform operating system software updates, upgrades, and patches.
Required Qualifications
- 11+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Engineer.
- Proficiency with Linux systems, including Red Hat and its derivatives (CentOS, RHEL, RockyOS).
- Experience with shell scripting and manipulating the Linux command line.
- Proven experience in Linux Administration support and engineering infrastructure support.
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, and PHP.
- Experience with cloud technologies, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with configuration management software, such as Ansible, Puppet, and Foreman.
- Experience with cloud computing models, including PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS.
- Experience with container technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Knowledge of LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
Certifications:
- Relevant Linux certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer, Linux+), cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect), or configuration management tools certifications are a plus.
