Reporter, Weekend Section: Tech Power, Money, Influence
The Information, New York, NY
About The Information
The Information is the go-to source of in-depth reporting for the most influential leaders in technology and business. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in San Francisco, our original, high-quality journalism has the power to inform the most consequential decisions shaping our future, and we've built a community of 700,000 active readers who depend on us to do just that. We have a financially healthy business, plenty of capital, and big ambitions to grow our team and business.
About the role
Even before the last six months, the tech elite already enjoyed a widening and wide-sweeping sway over politics and other parts of society. Then Elon Musk threw all that into overdrive.
The Information's Weekend section wants to hire a reporter to document this unprecedented moment in time. This reporter will chronicle how the tech elite direct their power, money and influence across the country, and our ideal candidate would pay particular attention to how they're directing that energy in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
This person will write twice a month for Weekend and be at ease moving at a newsweekly's pace. This reporter should also be comfortable being edited to the highest expectations of magazine-style journalism-and should thrive on that type of collaboration.
This person is most likely an established tech reporter who wants to examine the industry through a new lens, or a veteran politics reporter who wants to explore how tech is colliding and intertwining with politics. Experience in a national newsroom is key here-or keen ambition and a stack of clips showing a strong desire to join one.
