We are currently seeking a professional and enthusiastic Director of Content Strategy and Acquisitions to join our amazing team. In this position, you will play a critical role in shaping Frndly TV's content strategy. Working closely with the Chief Programming Officer, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing thoughtful, strategic, comprehensive content acquisition plans that drive key business metrics, including subscriber growth, viewership, retention, and improved monetization of our overall product. This role will be in office, based in Denver, Colorado.

This is an in-office role based in Denver, Colorado. Our base compensation amount for this role is targeted from $130,000 - $180,000 per year. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus plus equity.

We are currently seeking a professional and enthusiastic Director of Content Strategy and Acquisitions to join our amazing team. In this position, you will play a critical role in shaping Frndly TV's content strategy. Working closely with the Chief Programming Officer, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing thoughtful, strategic, comprehensive content acquisition plans that drive key business metrics, including subscriber growth, viewership, retention, and improved monetization of our overall product. This role will be in office, based in Denver, Colorado.
What Your Day Looks Like
- Working with the Chief Programming Officer, create comprehensive content acquisition strategies, detailing goals, rationale, and KPIs.
- Implement content plans to drive key KPIs such as subscriber acquisition, viewership, roll to pay, and retention.
- Use viewership and customer behavior data to inform and optimize licensing decisions.
- Identify content gaps and unique programming opportunities through thorough market research.
- Along with the Chief Programming Officer, lead the content acquisition process from negotiation through execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with all content providers.
- Use a data-driven approach to guide content decision-making, leveraging both internal and external data sources.
- Leverage data insights to guide licensing decisions and optimized content performance.
- Monitor and report on the performance of acquired content.
- Coordinate with multiple departments for successful channel/content launches.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing, Retention, and Ad Sales to align content strategy with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimized launch plans for key content releases.
- Gain a deep, data-driven understanding of the Frndly TV subscriber base and prioritize strategies to enhance the customer content experience.
- In cooperation with the Chief Programming Officer, manage budgeting and forecasting for the content department.
- Share insights and progress reports with executive leadership, informing strategic decisions that contribute to Frndly TV's overall success including insights on audience segments, content performance and viewer affinity.
- Design a robust content calendar that ensures fresh, relevant, and diverse programming to elevate user engagement and platform loyalty.
- Employ scheduling techniques to drive viewership and engagement across both VOD and linear.
Preferred Background and Experience
- Years of Experience: 10+ years in programming, content acquisition, or related roles within the MVPD, cable, streaming, or entertainment industries.
- 4 - 5 years working as a Director or equivalent level.
- Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
- Passionate about entertainment, TV and technology with a deep knowledge of the evolution of the pay-tv and streaming industries.
- Familiarity with licensing and distribution deals for content through networks, studios, and other content licensors.
- A proven track record of deploying successful content strategies that resonate deeply with a target audiences, resulting in significant engagement growth.
- An analytical mind adept at harnessing insights from data analytics to drive decision-making in content curation and overall user experience.
- A data-driven mindset with strong negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of audience preferences to enhance the subscriber experience.
- An understanding of industry trends, competitor programming strategies, and emerging content opportunities.
- Expertise in securing favorable licensing deals and partnerships with content providers.
- Familiarity with contract terms, rights management, and compliance in content acquisition.
- Experience overseeing the execution of programming strategies, including channel launches and content delivery timelines.
- Experience in managing programming budgets and forecasting.
- Ability to spot opportunities for unique or underserved content that resonates with target audiences.
- Strong sense of what content will appeal to and engage the subscriber base.
- Familiarity with linear and digital content delivery platforms, distribution models, and technologies.
Compensation
