About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Director to join a leading global biologics CDMO. In this role, you will drive growth by securing contracts for biologics drug product development and manufacturing services. This position focuses on establishing strong partnerships with existing and new clients to deliver value-driven solutions for drug product formulation, process development, and fill-finish manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development Leadership:

  • Drive business development activities for biologics (large molecules) drug product services, including formulation development, drug product process development, and clinical and commercial fill-finish manufacturing.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities with existing and new clients in North America to meet commercial revenue targets.

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Collaborate closely with the VP of Business Development, Commercial Leadership Team, and Operations to develop and execute strategies that align with growth objectives.
  • Provide input on market dynamics and trends to guide strategic business decisions.

Competitor and Market Analysis:

  • Conduct competitor analysis to identify market opportunities and gaps.
  • Support the development of new service offerings based on client needs and market demands.

Proposal and Negotiation Management:

  • Independently manage the sales process, including proposal development, contract negotiation, and deal closure.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to promote services and expand client relationships.

Collaboration Across Teams:

  • Partner with technical and operations teams to align on project scope, feasibility, and timelines.
  • Ensure seamless communication between clients and internal stakeholders throughout the sales process.

Role Requirements

To be successful in this role, we are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and experience:

Educational Background:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, or related field) is required.
  • An advanced degree (PhD and/or MBA) is highly desirable.

Industry Experience:

  • Proven experience in a commercial sales or business development role within the CDMO biologics drug product development and manufacturing services space.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.

Sales and Strategy Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of sales processes, from lead generation and client engagement to proposal development and contract negotiation.
  • Practical experience developing and implementing successful sales strategies.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
