Position: Director - Global Marketing & Communications
Location: Headquarters - Moon Township, PA

Hours of work: Full-time position with hours Monday-Friday 9:00-5:00

The Director - Global Marketing & Communications holds enterprise-wide responsibility for the strategic and tactical leadership of Calgon Carbon's marketing and communications (MARCOM) programs and is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that enhance and protect the company's brand, engage diverse stakeholders, and drive business growth. The Director - Global Marketing & Communications leads all corporate communications, including corporate visibility, media relations and public relations, digital marketing, internal communications, corporate culture, and community affairs. This role acts as communications partner to the executive leadership team and works in alignment with Calgon Carbon's and Kuraray's corporate strategy.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Internal & External Communications
    • Manages the planning, development, and execution of company-wide employee communications, programs and platforms by providing strategic direction on internal initiatives, drafting communications for executives, people managers, and employees, overseeing all editorial content
    • Owns the global brand and ensures the brand is represented appropriately in all media types
    • Creates and oversees strategic communication plans that align with Calgon Carbon's milestones, annual business plan, and long-term vision
    • Oversees all marketing and communication activities, including branding, advertising, public relations, digital marketing, and social media. Approves marketing content as required per corporate policy
    • Collaborates with executive team to improve employee engagement
    • Lead the development of compelling content and messaging that resonates with target audiences on a corporate level and in collaboration with global marketing team
    • Manage media relations and act as the company's spokesperson when necessary.
  • Customer Service, Focus, & Market Knowledge
    • Coordinate with other departments, including sales, product development, human resources, and customer service, to ensure cohesive and integrated marketing efforts
    • Works synergistically, and as a liaison, with the Kuraray Communications and Corporate Planning teams in Japan
    • Act as the knowledge center for marketing and communications and provides subject matter expertise guidance as needed
    • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in marketing and communications
    • Plans and executes on special projects as assigned
  • Strategic Direction, Planning, & Implementation
    • Develop and implement a strategic marketing and communications plan that aligns with the company's goals and objectives
    • Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and communication strategies, using data and analytics to drive continuous improvement
    • Provides strategic direction on all matters affecting company visibility and reputation as well as related tactical support as needed
    • Owns the on-going evolving culture of Calgon Carbon's vision, mission, and values to support the unique culture of the organization
    • Collaborates with executives, Kuraray, business units, and EHSS on crisis communication plan messaging to internal and external stakeholders
    • Collaborates with leadership and the HR function to create strategies and implement employee communications in support of corporate and industry initiatives
  • Supervisory Duties
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing and communications team
    • Directs the daily operation and work of the Internal Communications function
    • Manages the external website and manages the social media presence

Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university is required (Business, marketing, or related field; equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree)
  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience is required
  • 10+ years of communications experience is required
  • 10+ years of international communications experience or exposure is required
  • 10+ years of experience in planning, writing, editing, and production of marketing literature is required
  • Experience managing social media is preferred
