Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking an innovative and forward-thinking Director of Procurement to lead and enhance our strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and procurement operations in a dynamic global environment. This role requires leveraging cutting-edge technology, promoting sustainability, and ensuring supply chain resilience to drive business success.

This is an on-site role in Salina, KS. Some domestic and international travel is required (up to 20%).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Global Leadership: Participate in Global Procurement meetings in Osaka. Lead implementation of Kubota Corporate and Kubota North America Supply Chain Management and Procurement initiatives, share best practices and identify areas for global synergy.
  • Leadership: Serve on Joint Operating Committee and Division Operating Committees to support organization growth and attainment of strategic goals through Procurement initiatives. Strategic Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Parts and Service leaders.
  • Digital Transformation: Leverage digital tools and technologies (e.g., ERP, AI-driven analytics, e-procurement platforms) to optimize procurement processes and ensure efficiency and transparency.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Develop strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality, sustainability, and risk mitigation while negotiating favorable terms. Represent company in formulating policies and negotiating contracts with suppliers.
  • Risk Management: Manage inventory and direct buyers in purchase of products, materials, and supplies. Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain, ensuring continuity of supply amidst global disruptions and fluctuating market conditions.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Formulate and coordinate procurement policies and activities to ensure profit. Use data analytics and predictive modeling to make informed decisions about material availability, cost trends, and supply chain optimization.
  • Talent Development: Mentor and develop procurement talent, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and professional growth. Procurement team of diverse experts including Strategic Sourcing Specialists, Planner/Buyers and Foreign Trade Zone Analysts.
  • Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance): Implement sustainable sourcing practices to align with company ESG goals and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering or Business Management preferred with 5 years' experience as Procurement leader for company with a diverse product line. Extensive experience developing and executing strategic sourcing plans.
  • Technology Expertise: Proficiency in modern procurement technologies, such as ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), e-sourcing platforms, and supply chain analytics tools.
  • Global Supply Chain Experience: Experience managing global suppliers and navigating international trade regulations.
  • Sustainability Knowledge: Familiarity with sustainable procurement practices and ESG compliance standards.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Strong leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills, with an emphasis on building cross-functional relationships.

Certifications: Lean Six Sigma, CPIM, CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional), or equivalent certifications in supply chain and procurement best practices a plus.
