On-Site Overview: Audacy’s KCBS All News Radio, The Bay Area’s number one news station, is looking for an intrepid and tech-savvy journalist with a positive attitude and impressive work ethic to join an elite news team as a part-time news writer. KCBS is a 24/7 live and local news station. The part-time news writer schedule varies based on station needs and planned and breaking news events. Potential shifts can include 5a-12p and/or 11a-7p. What You’ll Do: Create and update broadcast and wire copy to produce compelling and accurate broadcast-style scripts for news anchors. Write engaging teases that maintain audience interest. Incorporate sound bites, music, and sound effects to enhance news copy. Edit and produce newscasts, including selecting and writing news content. Edit audio for broadcast and digital assets. Review and vet KCBS content to ensure compliance with regulations and policies. Manage the flow of news and information, including researching news tips and conducting off-air interviews. Monitor social media and other news sources. Collaborate with colleagues on news coverage plans. Promote news coverage across various channels, including social media and the Audacy app. Contribute content to KCBS's social media channels and website. Protect the station’s FCC license. Other duties as required by management. More About You: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines. Creative and proactive approach to journalism. Proficient in news gathering and comfortable with audio and video editing tools. Collaborative and willing to pitch story ideas. Experience in the San Francisco market is a plus. Available to work various hours, including overnights and weekends. Required to join SAG-AFTRA. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required if using personal vehicle. Contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for prolonged periods. Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 pounds.
