Medical Oncologist

to join a growing practice of experienced medical oncologists.

Medical Oncologist

Physician Roles and Responsibilities

Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population

Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions

Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate

Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required

As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs

Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress

Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care

Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients in correct usage

Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements

Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Required Skills & Qualifications

Medical License in Illinois

Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty

3-5 years of experience is preferred

Completed a US Residency Program

Medical Oncologist Opportunity Highlights:

State-of-the art facilities that offer comprehensive services including on-site chemotherapy infusion suites, clinical trials, specialty lab, pharmacy, social worker, dietitian and financial counseling at multiple sites.

The position consists of Monday-Friday outpatient clinic at Tinley Park, Calumet City and Harvey and inpatient rounding at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital.

Clinics are staffed with Medical Assistants and Nurse Navigators.

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits.

The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
