Technical Designer(s) (full-time, multiple openings) needed in Chicago, Illinois to consult with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of structures, and plan layouts of structural architectural projects. Prepare information regarding design, structure specifications, and materials used. Perform predesign services, such as feasibility or environmental impact studies. Collaborate and communicate with design team, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, vendors and regulatory agencies to resolve complex technical and design issues to meet overall project objectives, and ensure builder compliance with design specifications, and advise on design corrections. Establish design standards, space planning, and programming based on clients' functional and spatial requirements while meeting conceptual design goals. Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design (graphic presentations, physical models, 2D/3D renderings), design development, construction documents and production for core and shell architecture projects. Must have a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field, plus two (2) years of design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship) with all of the following: (1) Translating an architect's sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models, images and animations using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, parametric design software, 2D/3D software including AutoCAD, Revit, Grasshopper, Illustrator, SketchUp, InDesign, Bluebeam Revue, Rhino, and Enscape; (2) Utilizing site surveys, design sketches and other inputs to prepare digital architectural models using Revit and/or CAD based on BIM development standards; (3) Producing high quality renderings, site plans, sections, elevations and construction details for mixed-use, business office, hospitality, multifamily residential, and retail clients; (4) Developing all design stages of large complex projects: full Design Development, Schematic Design, Construction Documents sets in Revit and/or AutoCAD and experience in mixed-use, business office, hospitality, and retail development; (5) Developing the schematic design of the core and shell of a building, including the lobby, parking, elevator banks, internal/exterior staircases, core, bathrooms and terraces, entrance and circulation strategy, and facade development; (6) Mixed-use, hospitality, residential, and retail developments of size and scale that require Type I and II construction with corresponding life-safety requirements; (7) Delivering concept and schematic design package, which includes site analysis, design concept, design narrative, sustainability simulation tests, floor plans, sections, elevations and photo-realistic renderings; AND (8) Performing environmental analysis to understand the daylighting and lighting required for the mixed-use space, business office, hospitality, and retail development, space planning. In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor's degree design experience (non-intern, non-fellowship). All experience may be acquired concurrently. Incidental telecommuting may apply. The base salary range is $76,482.00 to $76,482.00. In addition, standard benefits will be offered, and employees will be eligible for bonuses.
