Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Tasks will include but are not limited to:
Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all data center systems to maintain 100% uptime including: fire/life safety, mechanical systems (HVAC, chillers, plumbing, controls), electrical systems (lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear), and hot water systems. Monitor operation, adjust, and maintain refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers; pumps; valves; piping; and filters. Record readings and make adjustments as necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment. Monitor building management systems and respond to alarms and alerts promptly.
Analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action as required.
Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
Learn and understand the data center site to manage incidents and events that put critical systems at risk.
Work order management, including CMMS, Vendor Management, and Customer Facing Tickets.
Understand and comply with emergency escalation procedures.
Perform additional job duties as required.
Minimum Experience:
Education & Experience
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
4+ years of related work experience.
Language Skills
Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations and codes.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before small groups of tenants or fellow employees.
Other Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge or the capability of developing proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Access.
Must be able to professionally interact with tenants and contractors.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience with Corrigo, MCIM / Salesforce, Zendesk, and Service Now.
Hands-on experience working in a data center/critical facility, including UPS.
Physical Requirements:
Walking large, campus-like settings.
Frequent walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, and working/extending overhead, including lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
Climbing stairs and navigating rooftops to access equipment.
Using ladders up to 30 ft and working from heights.
Must be able to work different schedules and respond to site emergencies.
Must be able to work Holidays.
