We are seeking a passionate and experienced Engineering Team Lead (Manager) to oversee a team of 4-6 engineers, including a QA professional. This leader will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining SaaS products hosted on AWS, leveraging service-based architectures to deliver scalable and robust solutions.
Role and responsibilities: As the Engineering Team Lead (Manager), you will: Leadership and Team Management: Lead a high-performing engineering team, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance management. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative team culture that aligns with the company’s mission and goals. Conduct regular one-on-ones, team meetings, and career development discussions to support team growth. Strategic Partnership with Product Management: Partner with the product management team to execute on the product roadmap and deliver features that meet customer and business needs. Act as a key technical collaborator, providing insights into feasibility, timelines, and resource allocation to achieve corporate objectives. Ensure alignment between engineering and product teams, creating a unified approach to product delivery. Technical Execution: Oversee the design, development, and delivery of SaaS products hosted on AWS, utilizing service-based architectures. Ensure the team follows best practices in software development, including code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and quality assurance. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to align technical execution with business goals. Architecture and Scalability: Contribute to architectural decisions that enable scalable, secure, and maintainable systems. Identify and implement improvements to existing services and workflows to enhance performance and reliability. Monitor and optimize AWS infrastructure to balance performance and cost-effectiveness. Quality Assurance and Testing: Partner with the QA team member to ensure robust testing strategies, including automated and manual testing where appropriate. Advocate for a “shift-left” testing approach, integrating quality assurance early in the development cycle. Process and Agile Practices: Champion Agile development practices, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming. Drive team accountability for delivering high-quality features on time and within scope. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in production and non-production environments. Partner with DevOps to maintain and enhance deployment pipelines, monitoring systems, and incident management processes. Key Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in software engineering, including leadership or management roles. Proven experience building and scaling SaaS products on AWS, including leveraging service-based architectures. Strong proficiency with modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Handlebar, JavaScript, or similar). Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira. Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure as code (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins). Familiarity with Redis, Mongo, and Elastic Search. Knowledge of best practices in testing, including automated testing frameworks and strategies. Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to align technical teams with broader business objectives. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in law enforcement or related industries is a plus. Familiarity with data-intensive platforms and workflows.
